I am closer, around 1300. Trying to minimize.

Btw by what time are we suppose to submit on 5th?

Yeah, I don't think I can cut back more. I may have to stick to my 1400 beautiful reasons for an interview at Booth :)
BTW, I am submitting today, but submission time deadline is definitely a hard thing on the website O_o

It is like the resume. Schools do 'recommend' that you keep your resume to 1 page but a person having many accomplishments/jobs may have to go onto the next page and for good reason. In the same way, a no-limit essay should also be 'as per recommendations' closer to 1000 words. But if you do have things that add to your profile and are important, then by all means you can go over. There is no hard and fast limit to such essays. I know of a person who got admitted to Booth in R1 who has 1200 words for his essay. At the end of the day, it is the quality of your essay and not the length that matters.

Do note that, a 1000 words essay is starting to become a 2 page essay and a bit long to read.

Guys

Anyone here concerned about their word counts ? I am at 1400s and seriously panicking at this point while editing. I don't want to miss out on mentioning a coherent and complete story in my application, which cutting down may cause. Can someone who was interviewed pitch in as to what lengths were your essays ? My essay is text with pictures in between. Also fellow R2 applicants where are you with the word count?

HELP HELP HELP!

Hi, I would say how you present your essay will be more important than the number of words. I wrote more than 1,000 words for the essay and also attached 3 pictures - which contain a lot info. But I designed the *essay* in a one-page brochure so everything looks concise and clear. Well, at least I made it to an interview (hmm but interview sucks :()

Just take it easy.. the best (or the worst) is yet to come. Good luck!

In my case my PowerPoint had about 1000 words overall. Each of my 9 slides was a picture accompanied by an action title and some text.

Good luck!

Are the recommenders automatically granted one week grace period to turn in their recommendation?
And what is the payment method for the application fee?

FROM The Booth Experience: Adventures on the Tech Trek
Whoa, there, World. You’re telling me Winter Break is over? Winter Quarter is starting up, and the inevitable question from everyone will be, “What did you do for your holiday?” This year, three of my lovely peers and I coordinated the 2015 Tech Trek from 12/13 to 12/18 in Seattle and the Bay Area. Planning … Continue reading Adventures on the Tech Trek →
