Can someone please share insights on what implications does this change have on international applicants? Does this make recruiting in US easier?

So it has definitely opened up more opportunities. One example: PWC has allowed us to recruit. Previously they weren't sponsoring. It's not crystal clear as to how it affects recruiting, but I will keep the thread posted about any latest developments.

It gives you an automatic 3-year work permit which helps with a few things:

1. It gives you a legal right without too much hoop jumping to stay and work! In the US for 3 years

2. You are more likely to get an H1 B work permit since you will have 3-4 opportunities at the lottery instead of 1-2.

3. Employers that don’t hire internationals and don’t bother with H1B will still not hire however they may reconsider. Sounds like PWC is one! . This is not an automatic work permit however.

4. You can now stay in the US for 3 years + 2x3 for H1B. A total of 9 years which is plenty for a green card application.

I think you did a great job explaining STEM MBA. However, we are still unclear about it's implications, both positive/negative. The administration has been in constant touch with the student body, and the expected outcome is likely to be positive. But we will have more clarity on what it means. The career office is reaching out to recruiters to inform them about the change. We also, have a session with Office of International Education to get more clarity on it. But overall it definitely looks like a positive thing. Lots of MBA programs are trying to be STEM, but has only been able to get STEM designation for certain track or concentration.

Dark_Horse, Will you be able to take advantage of this designation? Or is it only for those who enter next year?

So the designation for everyone who graduates after Spring 2020. So, current 2nd years and 1st years are beneficiaries of this new change.

Thank you so much for sharing your insights guys!

By the way, is this a general designation that all the Tepper MBA students can take advantage of or students have to opt in for certain tracks to be qualified for such OPT extension?

Hi All
I am an Indian female (age 24) with a very diverse and unique profile. (4 years HR experience from top MNC, Post graduation in HR from top school in India, multiple abroad visits through competitions, internship and exchange program, scholorships during school and college, gold medalist in sports world championship, community work for women and employment)

I do have invite from Simon with 50% scholorship.

My gmat score is really low that is 670 compared to average gmat score of Tepper business School.

Do you think I have any chance of getting an admit with scholorship at tepper?
