I’m planning to apply to Goizueta. I’m from India. I have 730 in GMAT, and 4+ years of work ex as of today. Education in engineering from BITSG. Work ex 3 years in analytics at a US based fortune 50 retailer and 1+ year in ecomm product management in a well known beauty retailer. Post MBA goal is consulting. I wanted to know a couple of things: 1. how easy/difficult is getting a scholarship. Based on my profile, what are the chances? 2. If i go for a 1 year MBA, will i be possible to make a switch to consulting? 3. what’s the placement scene like for international students? i’ve heard that sponsorship is a growing issue
Hi, to answer your questions:

1. To know the difficulty level of getting scholarships based on your profile, you can use GMAT Club’s decision tracker here introducing-gmat-club-decision-tracker-v2-411012.html

It is also possible to request a profile review. Use the link attached above

2. Normally, Adcoms recommend 2y MBA for career switchers due to internship opportunities

3. To know the placement rates for Internationals at Emory, it’s best to consult their employment report :)

It will be added to your application automatically - just do not pay the app fee when submitting the application.

I heard the above in two application workshops this month, I am not an official Adcom member, just a fellow applicant :D

With this score and profile I would say good chance. Like someone said earlier 2y MBA is preferred. I would say the storm should calm down by 2026 (the election pressure usually goes down after 1 year) so I would think over it too much.

Hi, I have 4 yrs of WE right now with most of it in healthcare consulting firm (ZS). I am an Indian and have decent extra curriculur in undergrad and couple of awards and early promotion in my current firm. Although I have 650 in my GMAT. Does it make sense to apply with this profile and score in Emory R1?

I am planning another attempt for GMAT but will have to rush things for R1

The average GMAT for Emory averages around 692; as an Indian, Male, Engineer you come from an over-represented pool, and if your other components are average, you should be aiming for a score around 710.
For an informed opinion therefore, it becomes a lot more important to go through your profile in detail, along with your GMAT V&Q breakdown. Basis your profile, and other strengths, we can also suggest other comparable MBA programs in case Emory doesn't fit your career goals. Please submit your profile or ping me on my LinkedIn for a Free 1-2-1 profile discussion over the phone.

aazad hope you are doing great

ZS consulting experience is a top-tier kind of pre-MBA experience. I worked with a girl from ZS (GMAT 740) who recently got into Booth along with Duke & Tuck (which are healthcare-focused and consulting powerhouses). Do not let your 650 overshadow your potential.

What's the breakdown into Quant and verbal?
On this platform, I have consistently advised applicants to consider GMAT scores in the quantitative and verbal sections individually. Admissions committees evaluate your performance along with that of your peers (from your demographic group) using a bell curve approach. A Q49 score (approximately the 75th percentile) is considered borderline elite for overrepresented populations at top business schools. If your quantitative score is around this threshold, the admissions committee is confident that you can handle the academically demanding curriculum. Conversely, for native English speakers, a high score on the verbal section works very well with the adcoms as it underscores that the applicant has the expected skills based on their demographic.

Your verbal score is more likely to reflect your ability to participate in discussions in a truly diverse group at schools that place a high value on discussion-based pedagogy. Your interview performance will matter a lot.

Get candid advice tailored to your specific situation. We do not cap discussion hours with our applicants. Feel free to connect

Hi everyone, I’m an Indian woman applying in round 1 for the full-time MBA program.

I have 3 YOE experience in ad-tech (media.net) as a Marketing and Strategy Associate. My role involves forming advertising strategy for our web publishers via different ad-tech implementations to grow their accounts. The role directly contributes to our business revenue.

This year I was promoted to Senior Associate, the equivalent of a Team Lead, coordinating a team of four (no direct reports)

I did my BA in Psychology from St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai with a GPA of 3.76/4. Held several leadership positions in college tests and have 3-4 meaningful volunteer experiences (spanning college years and after)

My GRE score is 312 (V153, Q159).

Post MBA career goals are product management or management consulting.

What are my chances of getting admitted to Emory?

Hi
Thank you for the answer. I have Q50 and V28. I am trying to improve my verbal scores and apply for R2 instead. I do get that score is only one aspect of the application but I want to make sure that I put my best score possible which I am hoping I will achieve by R2

Has anyone completed/submitted their application for R1?
If yes, will you kindly share your video essay question?
I found some questions on gmatclub but they dated back many years ago. I am not sure how things are now.

Hello aazad,

Thanks for writing in.

Your years of experience and background make you a good fit for Emory; of course, we are assuming that your career goals will be in a similar domain as Emory has a strong healthcare focus.

Having said the above, you must retake your GMAT. Emory is a GMAT sensitive school; this means that it puts a fair bit of weight on your test score. Applying with a better score in R2 is what we would recommend.

All the best!

I was approved for a standardized test waiver for Goizueta, does anyone know if the waiver will be viewed negatively by the adcom?
Thanks!
