Hello!

Sorry I am a little late for this, but sharing it anyway if it helps anyone! I was admitted to the programme last month, and when I got the invite a couple of people reached out and asked to share my profile. Here it goes:

India, Female, 27 years old
Pre-MBA Career: Business Strategy, planning and Operations at a premium Fashion House
Post-MBA Target Industry: Luxury and Fashion
Post Grad: Communication Design (Fashion Communication) from a Top 3 India Design Schools
GMAT: 690
GPA: 8.2/10
Years of Work Experience: 6
Location: New Delhi, India

Notes: I am aiming to continue working in the fashion industry, ideally with global fashion houses, having had some relevant industry exposure through my work experience so far.

WE: Have worked as a journalist at a national newspaper, worked in Marketing in London, and ultimately chose to work in Fashion. My company is D2C and mostly exports internationally. I started working here as an E-Commerce Manager, and multiple promotions later, my last held position is Director of Business Strategy and Planning. I lead all business strategy operations, decide for and allocate all marketing budget, and lead a team of about 18 individuals, aged between 35-60 years of age. In my current tolse, I am usually the 2nd most senior person (after founder and CEO) and handle day-to-day management.

GMAT: 690, Q47, V38, IR8.
International Work-Ex: Have worked in marketing and art direction at a Top 5 marketing agency's London office. Since my company is registered in the States, most stakeholders that I work with on the daily basis are based internationally.

ECs: Country topper for International Commerce Olympiad in highschool. Served as the head girl. Led multiple research projects in College, working in rural areas with different craft communities. Worked on a Coffee Table Book for the Ministry of Textiles, India.
Have been volunteering since 2017 in different multiples: as an animal rescuer, as an educator for students with limited means. During covid, worked with women based in rural areas and trained them in different skills as a way of earning a sustained livelihood. Also work part time with 2 schools, serving as a counsellor for high school students and guiding them through unconventional career paths.

If anyone needs any help or anything, please feel free to reach out :) Will try my best to help! Thanks.

Hi guys, I applied for the MSc marketing programme at HEC in R2, and I just received their decision of moving my application to the third round. Does this mean that I have been waitlisted - has this happened to anyone else? I thought waitlist situations only happen after interviews. I didn't take GMAT/GRE, so will my chances be higher for round three if I supplement my application with a GMAT score for round three?

I received an email from the committee saying that they’re considering my profile but GMAT is lower than class profile average. Hence they are giving me a chance to retake the test before making final call, if I want. In case not, they’ll continue with current.

Did anyone receive a similar mail?

Hi guys, I hope that someone could give me some advice on my situation: I just recently decided to apply to HEC Paris.
- Career goal: Pivot from CPG MKT to Consulting
- GMAT: 730 Classic
- Experience: 5.5 years, 2 as manager in company with $3BN revenue
- Applied to US schools, but not sure about scholarship feasibility, so I’m considering HEC Paris with lower living expense
Because I want to have an MBA ASAP, I couldn’t wait until Sep 25 Intake. I have 02 questions:
- If I apply for the Sep 24 Intake with the Feb 24 Deadline, is it a little too late and hard for admissions and scholarship?
- If I apply for the Jan 25 Intake, I’m afraid that the Adcom will have concerns about limited internship opportunity for career switchers

I hope someone can help me share a bit of your knowledge. Thank you

I’m no expert in HEC but if you’re switching careers, getting an internship is very helpful…. And safer. At the same time INSEAD Is just 10 months and really no internship…

Just make sure that you attend their events and that you don’t just pop in on the radar two weeks before you submit your application. If you just now made up your mind to apply, or the time you have and this late in the application cycle, Chances that you will have a good app are not on your side.

However, if you’ve done work and attended events, talked to students or alumni and have done all that groundwork, you can apply now instead of aiming for January intake… But even January intake is similar deadline 😬😬😬 It’s very tight if you just decided to do it.

Thank you bb! I have joined several events (but back in Aug’23 and Sep’23), guess I need to really kick off the engagement again. Aiming for Septermber Intake and Feb deadline I guess, as I think for career switchers, Sep Intakes are better with 02 internship opportunities.

I am no HEC expert so double check my comments. If you can, try to get in touch with a few current students. It will help in your application. See if you can find some folks with CPG background. They can also give you a better sense of January versus September intake
