ankurgupta03,

Quick question on the top of my mind, what is the percentage of students that are invited to interview and the percentage of interviewed students that receive an offer?

Thanks !

I am not very sure about it now, but as per Mr A M Kannan it was 1:5:8 back in 2011
link: https://www.rediff.com/getahead/report/c ... 110727.htm

For every one selected student, 5 interviewed and 8 applied.

That puts the selectivity at around 12.5% (That is too high ... Harvard's is around 11% :P :D )
And I believe ISB must have a good yield, given their reputation and demand here in India.

Any one else has any info on this?

Thank you bhai! I do know about the yield rate. It's there on the ISB website. Says we are at 85% and quickly approaching 90%!

That is just tremendous :D :P. I did not know and never searched about it.
They are well ahead of Harvard and Stanford.

This shows the popularity they have in India :)

Does anyone know how ISB conducts the writing assessment over Skype/telephonic interviews for international applicants? Also any past experiences of Skype/telephonic interviews, I was unable to find any on the forum.
Thanks!

I am sorry, but I do not have much info about this.
paritaghia and cs2209 are the ones who have received a skype invite.

Hello everyone,

Yesterday i received a call informing my interview for Second Round.
It is a matter of surprise that I got a call despite Low GMAT (GMAT 620).
In order to get admitted i need to nailed the interview at any cost but problem is that I am out of India, & won't be able to make upto India for interview because of project work & Visa.

Need your guidance in this situation

Regards
LS

Have you received an in person invite?
You can always mail the ISB people and tell them about your position, they can arrange for a Skype Interview.
Regarding the preparation, go through the ISB Preparation Kit in my signature, you will find useful material to start off.
If you have any specific questions, let me know.

All the best!

Yes , I have received E-mail having details that I am shortlisted for 2nd round & to choose other location for interview than preferred one because of time constraint.
I shared with ISB team details which they have asked , Hope they agreed to conduct interview online
I would like to know, am i suppossed to upload all documents now on ISB website ? Plz confirm If yes & if possible plz share link also

Thanks & Regards
LS

So Hi, had my skype interview today at 4pm ist. I called them up at 4 sharp and they told me to give them 10min. So as I was counting every second of those 10 min, 5 min later I suddenly received another message from them. Luckily I was staring without blinking at the open skype window. They gave me the word "forum" and told me that I'll have to speak on it for a minute and I have 5min to prepare that.
They told me to call me on the phone and connect on skype for the video. The phone gave a lot of noise during the cal lso they told me to talk over skype itself.
There were 2 gentlemen: 1 alumn, 1 from the adcom (bald guy with specs)
They started with what I was doing in Singapore. So I am pursuing a masters in analytics here which just started in this jan, and I knew this is what the major discussion will be about. They asked a lot of questions about why analytics, difference between this course and isb mba, which one would I choose and why, what will I gain from isb that I won't from this course etc etc.
The second focus was on my work experience, my roles and responsibilities, the challenges that I faced, What did I bring to my second company from my first company, what kind of roles am I looking for post mba etc etc.
Third was everything else left, what you do outside work, tell us why your recommendation says you are street smart, give us an example of how you inspired someone, what will you bring to isb, why should we take you, why shouldn't we take you, what is the one thing you would do if you could today besides joining the army and everything that they could find written on my application and recommendation.
Last was as usual, a question that I would want to ask.
Overall it was a very chilled out and relaxed conversation, but have no idea what to make of it. :?
All the best to the ones left. Please do comment if you want to know about something in particular.

Hey Dienekes,
I wasn't asked to write/speak on a "word". My interview began by them straight asking questions from my essays, and then on my work experience. Then there was a trick question, followed by more questions regarding interests, and what would i bring on the table. It lasted for about 20-25 minutes.

Good Luck!

Thanks for posting the Skype interview experiences folks. It seems there is no clear choice on the written assessment so better anticipate it.

oh yes, I forgot to mention, that they didn't really ask me to speak on that word. I think it's just one of their, to 'catch you off guard' thing.

Hi, I read the below in the wiki page. Can someone elaborate on the implications in ISB PGP?
///However, because ISB PGP is not recognized as MBA or Post Graduate Degree/Diploma by AICTE unlike the PGDM offered by the IIMs, authorities outside India do not recognize ISB PGP as an equivalent of MBA and hence do not consider the same as Advanced degree. As an illustration, someone who has a four years Bachelors degree and one year ISB PGP would still be considered a Bachelor's degree holder by US Citizenship and Immigration Services for US Visa and Green Card purposes.[15] ////

ankurgupta03,

This year for intake 2015.....
about 4400 applicants...
about 2400 interviewees....
Intake 768
Also consider about 70-80 were selected in EEO... and more in YLP

so I'm assuming about 650 admits from R1 and R2... ratio is
admit/int = 27.1% or about 1 in 3.7
admit/applied. = 14.72% or about 1 in 6.8

What is the word limit or time limit or both for the writing assessment ?
Does the essay get discussed in interview ?

I think 20 minutes and one side of the page.
I doubt they would mind at all even if you ask for extra time also :) There is not strictness on the essay part.

Regarding the discussion, I do not think it is discussed in the interview. It is just a sanity test for your writing skills
I have appeared twice for the interview and the essay was not discussed.

All the best!

Thanks :)
I'm now trying to improve my crappy handwriting.. Hope at least they will understand whatever I write

Hey Ankur,

I've been a silent spectator on this thread so far. But I thought you deserve an applause for this effort.
Brilliant initiative. And kudos for keeping it alive.

While I was reading the R1 application/admit pages, my heart went out to you. I'm sorry you didnt make it but I'm sure greater things are in store for you.

Lastly, thank you! :)

You don't have to carry any documents to the interview. You need to scan and upload your 10th, 12th, ug marks sheet and degree certificate and any other additional degrees or professional certificates. I'd suggest, scan and keep all on cloud. That way, you can upload from anywhere. And yea, you'll need a print out of the interview invite.

Seriously ankurgupta03 you have done a commendable job maintaining the thread.

You have helped not only for ISB but for other B schools as well. Thanks for helping me out. :wave

I really hope you have admits of your choice.
