Hi,
Request a profile evaluation :)
Male, 27
X-10CGPA (CBSE)
XII- 88.4 (Science-CBSE)
ENGG.- 6.91 CGPA (STATE GOVT. College Kerala)

GMAT- 730 (Q48, V42, IR 5.5, AWA 5)

Robotic process automation architect in TCS (part of digital cadre- higher visibility and pay). 6 years of work experience with the same org., have a fast track promotion to a early mid management position in 2021. And have implemented 4 projects with full ownership leading junior developers. Made it to Tata administrative service final interview last year comprising a CXO level panel (CEO of Tata Elxsi included), could not make the cut. Reason to not switch was TAS oppotunity, but after failed attempts realise MBA is the right way to move into managament.

Volunteering with an NGO, with pan India presence that is working to bridge educational gap among underserved communities. Have volunteered here for over an year, now a chapter leader- leading 8 leaders and responsible for 70 volunteers with an impact over 120 students. Part of the team that handles expansion, recruitment and Crowdfunding for the organisation in Bangalore.

Dated ECs-
Leadership positions in school (vice captain) and college representative, and represented school in quiz and debate in school

Post MBA goals- Consulting with MBB, willing to also move into technology consulting
@sharathskal - some thoughts:

1. While the GPA is low, the GMAT can help compensate. Having said that, a higher score can definitely strengthen this.

2. The TCS brand and promotions are good angles. Would like to understand the key projects/ achievements, skillsets gained, any international exposure (?) etc to assess your professional arc better.

3. The post-MBA goal needs strengthening. Some thoughts to ponder on: (A) why consulting? (B) which domain within consulting and why: there are MBB's (and digital arms within these), big-4's (most of these have a digital strategy arm), boutiques (domain or tech focused), mid-sized (Kearney, Oliver Wyman, etc.) (C) what transferable skills do you bring to the table and (D) what's plan-B? Narrowing these down would require deeper discussions.

3. EC's present interesting angles to showcase personal/ professional growth. The leadership angle will need more fleshing out, both from your work-ex and ECs - this is crucial. For guidelines and best practices for ISB's latest essays, check out here.

Feel free to reach out for a deeper chat.

Arvind

Multiple promotions as well actively working with a social service group since 2018
Dear Shilpa2021,

Profile Strengths

On first glance, your profile showcases several immediate strengths that stand out. Your experience with a Big 4 firm as a data analyst and your exposure to financial analysis through the 'Global Finance and Business Management' team at JP Morgan demonstrate a valuable mix of technical and financial expertise. This experience can be highly sought after by consulting companies if your goal is to transition into consulting. Additionally, your multiple promotions speak to your strong career progression.

However, your profile is just one aspect of the shortlisting criteria. Other important parameters include your academics (which seem decent as per what you hae mentioned), your GMAT score (aim for 655+ as that is around the median score of candidates typically receiving admits), your extracurricular activities (it's great to hear about your association with a social service group, but you'll need to elaborate on your role and contribution), and lastly, the admission essays that tie everything together in an impactful story representing your candidature.

Recommendations for Strengthening Your Application

To strengthen your application, we recommend:
  1. Achieving a high GMAT score (655+ for focus edition) to meet the median score of admitted candidates.
  2. Crafting strong, well-thought-out admission essays that effectively showcase your unique experiences, skills, and goals.
  3. Elaborating on your extracurricular activities, particularly your role and contributions in the social service group.
Our Support

Given your strong profile and with the right GMAT score and compelling admission essays, we believe you have a solid chance of securing an interview invite. We are genuinely eager to learn more about your profile and to assist you comprehensively throughout the application journey—from refining your essays to providing guidance pertaining to letters of recommendation and preparing for admission interviews. At Team FLY, we are a collective of ISB alumni dedicated to supporting prospective ISB candidates with profile positioning, essay critiques, and interview preparations. We are here to help you navigate the application process and maximize your chances of success. Please feel free to book a 15-minute free session for a detailed discussion with us: https://calendly.com/reachusfly/15min

Hi guys, sharing my profile here for a suggestion:

Gmat:690 ( Standard)
Acad:
10th:93%, 12th:97.4%, B-tech: Mechanical Engineer Graduated from NIT Warangal with a CGPA of 7.82.
Experience: Currently having 5 years experience in the Automotive Sector.Successfully handled multiple Brownfield & Greenfield projects. Worked in the projects related to energy conservation and new technologies like generation of BIO-CNG. Promoted last year to team lead and currently handling a people of 3-4 people.

Extra Curriculars: Projects in College related to Vehicle design, Event Manager for our College technical fest and Worked as a General Secretary for one of our College clubs.
Recently joined Toastmasters International and actively participating thereafter to work on my people and leadership skills.

Post MBA goals: Looking for an operations profile where I will get a chance to diversify my industry specific role to an all round one and also to use my current experience to the maximum extent possible.

Applied for ISB this year and rejected in Round-2 after interview (Interview experience was good : 3 panelists and I answered my experience related and career goal questions pretty well but failed to properly justify why ISB which I think may be the reason for my rejection).

I am looking for a suggestion on what are my chances for the coming cycle with the same score.
Also, I am trying to improve my score but I am unable to cross that 645 mark in GMAT FE.
So, any suggestions are appreciated!!! Thanks.

Hey! Your acads are decent and you should look at a GMAT score of 655+. A 695~705+ will help in making your profile standout. Your work experience is pretty good with some recent leadership experience which will come in handy for your essays and interviews. You should carve out some leadership stories and key initiatives you took that had significant impact on your organization. You can use your project related to vehicle design or your toastmaster experience to bring in a personal touch (especially in essay 1). You should think a bit about your goals and how MBA/ISB will help you reach your goals. Currently, it seems that you can transition to your desired profile without an MBA since you have significant experience in Automotive operations OR maybe it didn’t come out clearly in your write up. So, this is the part on which you will have to focus big time coz this is where majority of the aspirants miss on the admits.

I actually think a 645 will look better than a 690 srinivasvamsi46. Also, there are a couple of more months before the R1 deadline. Any chance that you can push the 645 to (say) a 655-665? Every additional point helps.

Rest of the profile comes acorss as very decent. Incidentally, the third optional essay this year is why ISB. So, hopefully you would be able to defend yourself better this time.

All the best!

Hey there! Your strong academic background provides a solid foundation. Aiming for a GMAT score between 695 and 710 would really boost your profile. Your impressive work experience will strengthen your essays and interviews, especially in recent leadership roles. Highlight impactful projects like your vehicle design in Essay 1.

Clearly explain your career goals and how an MBA from ISB will help you reach your desired role. Explain how the MBA will advance your automotive operations career, ensuring your application is clear. This approach will greatly improve your chances.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

YLP/EEO programs for next year are in a bit of a flux as of now notneeded. Wait for an announcement from ISB next month, for more clarity vis-a-vis the future of these programs.

p.s. In any case, it might not be a bad idea to start your GMAT/GRE preparation now.

At this stage, it would be prudent to wait for the official announcement from ISB, rather than indulging in conjectures.
