Did anyone receive an email suggesting to retake the GMAT?

I was invited for an interview but I'm wondering how crucial this is. Given the turnaround time, I doubt that my score will actually improve considering I plateaued towards the end and cancelled my last score. I'm also considering taking a practice GRE to see if I could try that route.

What was your GMAT score that you applied with? Seems like a clear sign that they want to see improvement. That being said, given the current environment you'd need to take the online test. Getting a tutor remotely is possible but also not ideal, so a tough situation.

I feel the need to stick up for remote tutors here, I taught GMAT verbal for 18 years and on rare occasion I would meet with clients face-to-face.

When I worked with them remotely they processed what I was saying in real time, applying it in time.

But when I met with people face-to-face they would basically listen to the "lecture" in a crowded coffeehouse and then feel the need to go away to apply it on their own.

So in my experience, if you're dealing with someone who has good coaching, communication and teaching skills then virtual is absolutely great.

For verbal I can agree with you, but quant I feel is much more difficult -- requires significant scratch paper work / examples to be drawn out. Not to say it is impossible, but much more challenging and the tutor needs to be quite strong with technology to make it seamless.

Some tutors are certainly more tech savvy than others, but if in doubt just ask to do a free class! Most of them offer one and it's a great way to check if he/she can still deliver remotely.

On another note congrats to all the successful LBS MBA applicants! (I'm a proud MBA2016 myself)

That's a good point that I have not really considered. I had clients working with counterparts for the math but it was never quite the same level of success that I had.

It is not very clear whether there is a specific format for One Page CV while submitting application for LBS MBA 2020 intake? Or one can use any format but restrict the CV to one page? Can someone help?

No specific format but you need to keep the length to one page. See below extract from the LBS website

https://www.london.edu/masters-degrees/mba/apply
"Your one-page CV is uploaded as part of the online application form. Please give reasons for significant gaps in employment history on a separate sheet"

LBS does a 'CV review' with admissions committee, wherein you can upload your CV and receive feedback. Not particularly detailed, but a nice way to get informal feedback before submitting an application -- they usually reply in a few days.

On the topic of CV review, thought I would offer details from the AD on that.

Here is an email my client received from David Simpson mentioning what they look for.

Hello (name)

Great to hear from you. I enjoyed meeting you. I'm pleased that you're considering London Business School.

Whilst Lisa is correct that candidates with less than four years experience face a big challenge gaining admission, we certainly do admit a few every year.

Your challenge will be to prove to us that you are ready; have enough experience to draw on; and can contribute to study group and class discussions. As you now know, LBS MBA students typically have a little more experience than those at US schools.

Thanks for sending the brief description through. Can you send me a full CV? And perhaps extend your description here and tell me about your career so far and any progression or achievements. Give us a taste of the level you are operating at. If you do go on to apply then this information can be added to your application file to try and help convince the Admissions Committee.

Unfortunately I won't be in Paris. I'm happy to keep up the conversation by email or phone though.

Best regards

David

I haven't heard either. I got an email from admissions today to my query though if it helps:

"We are still allocating the last few scholarships, I would say that if you have not heard by the end of this week it is unlikely that you would have received a scholarship."

Nothing yet. I also emailed by adcom yesterday, no reply either so far. There are other deadlines coming up and LBS (I think) is the only school that doesn’t tell you exactly when scholarship decisions are released.
