do they review apps based on when they were submitted? I submitted mine like an hour before the deadline.

I think this is impossible to know, and it probably isn't worth stressing about. Granted, I've wondered the same thing. They could read them from last submitted to first submitted or vice versa. It could even be a random process.
I believe they split applications by region, and probably for each region they split by career background. Maybe after all that they look in the order submitted, but at this point it probably dont make any difference.

Btw probably they will release all latin america invitations in this first wave, bc the team exercise at sao paulo is scheduled to 2/4. So it would give enough time for latam applicants plan a trip to sao paulo.

I guess that interview invites for US applicants are the only ones that certanly will occur in both waves. This could not be true for some specific regions (such as latam), but it is hard to say for sure.

Yeah, you're not the only one. I will definitely be checking my phone frequently tomorrow. Hopefully all us Round-2'ers get some good news.

Do you guys know anyone who's gotten in at Ross with a 710 ? or im just reaching ?
I applied with 710-Q48V40 in R2, so I hope this is true. I also met someone recently (Indian), who got in with a score between 700-720 with a $10k scholarship.

Admissions is more than just a GMAT score.
Unless, you're an Indian. I have read applications (not specifically to Ross) which had ZERO content, a lot of buzzwords forcible glorifying the essay (but hey, 760). These essays were bad - was a collective opinion of whoever read then. But they not only bagged people admissions, but also scholarships.

Point is, at least from my perspective, admissions committees work like a black-box. You don't know what's going on in there. So despite having a stellar profile, you could be denied because they have already accepted too many people from your function / region.

Out of curiosity, which point are you trying to make? (1) That essays from Indians were mostly bad (basically begging adcoms for admission/scholarships), but the only positive was their high GMAT? or (2) Other nationalities essays were bad, but they still got admission even with an average GMAT (for the school) and that would never have happen with Indians?

He said bagged not begged.

Indians, by their sheer number, tend to provide a spectrum of great to worst in both quantitative (GMAT, GPA etc) and qualitative (essays and recs) aspects.

I see the phrasing now. I thought it was just a typo with the way the sentence was written. Assuming the new context then it was more point 1 than 2 with the new interpretation.

Naturally, the Indian applicant pool to any school is definitely a representative sample of the MBA hopefuls. Of course in US based programs, with their limits on demographics, there is an eventual bias towards higher numbers. This may or may not compromise other variables in the 'holistic' application process, purely a question of odds.

At the end of the day, it is an imperfect process to gauge the correlation of past performance to future success.

I mean you will stories around the #1 theme every now and then. But the overall statistics support #2. So we will never know how to get the ad-com to work for you if you're on the wrong side of the statistics.

Also, s7sara, with reference to "limits on demographics", I may sound biased because I am an Indian, but a truly diverse class wouldn't be harmed if a third of the class was Indian/Chinese - that's really representative of the global population (given the school gets adequate quality applications from those regions).

Edit: Here's a study on bias in ad-coms. https://poetsandquants.com/2017/01/02/al ... dmissions/

Anyway, apologies for taking everyone off-topic. Back to Ross, eagerly awaiting.

Looks like R2 interview invites went out around 2PM EST last year. Not like that's any guarentee they will come out at the same time this year. Just thought I'd highlight how obsessed I am with this whole process.

Thanks for that, gmat is my only concern. Rest is up in the air - I think I have good essays! But who knows.

good luck guys! I hope all of us hear some news today!

I am kinda in the same boat as you, so factor in some bias due to my wishful thinking.
Based on my conversation with an Indian student at Ross, I think you have a solid shot. You have differentiated yourself from the vast majority of Indian candidates with your background and international experience. If diversity of thought and ideas is what matters, they will definitely pick you over someone with slightly higher GMAT.
