what? the optional essay is not actually optional!!!???

doomed again after ding from HBS and Booth...

there was a typo in the previous reply and it's already changed

the essay is optional. someone mentioned that it's just a deal breaker when there's a tie in the applicant's weighted score. (adcom told me on a roadshow that they would evaluate candidates by giving scores to different attributes.. then an applicant has a certain score)

urgh... i am sick of just waiting around and checking for views every now and then

With you, this part sucks... What's the consensus on when we start to hear anything? Next week or the week after?

I just hope its today... or then its the weekend and adcoms are surely not working on weekends at this point...

There are two weeks and a little more left to send the invites... so they better go out soon.

Wouldn't say adcom doesn't work on weekends. I do know of GSB people who received invites on a Sunday morning for example.

Funny thing.

I have had one view from New York in the last week of september and three views from Mass (One - last week of September and two - second week of October)
What does this even mean? Does the revisit mean reconsideration?

Kind of same for me. Looking at my video views from Massachusetts, I have the following stats:

1. Sep. 22nd, 1 view full 2 mins
2. Sep. 23rd, 1 view full 2 mins
3. Oct 13th, 1 view full 2 mins
4. Oct 14th, 3 views full 2 mins each

My vid has been viewed 6 times. They better not be cracking jokes watching my video during lunch times!

Are we all expecting a big-ish wave of invites this week or do you guys think they will wait till next week?

I believe we should should start seeing invites in the next few days. Its been 4 weeks since the deadline so the coming week falls right in the 4-6 week timeframe that I believe MIT generally takes. Fingers crossed!

I think what they meant is that the essay is NOT optional although it's said optional on their website "From what admissions said at an info session I went to, the optional essay is really "optional" this year for that reason. They explicitly said to do the essay and sort of implied that not doing it would hurt the application." This sentence is missing a NOT between really and optional...

Since there are more than 3 people confirmed this and they all said the adcom specifically said this, I think I'm really screwed.

I just hate it when people explicitly say something when they really don't mean it. Just ask for an essay if you want one!!!

I know.. I checked with friends & acquaintance and acquaintances' friends (total of 10 people or so in different industries) but no one has heard anything.

Do they send out the invites for one city in one go?
