Guys, what is the dress code for the video statement?

Anything that is smart and professional. I wore a blazer but it's okay to do without one... smart business casual (dress shirt) is fine.

Is it OK to wear something like a jersey if I am a super fan of a sport team, which I'll talk in the statement?

There are no stated rules about this and they did say to be creative. Go for it.

Interesting question.. is that team Manchester United? :)
Here's my take -

The risk may not be worth it. The way MIT Sloan evaluates your candidature is through rating you on various aspects (they broadly classify them under 2 groups - "demonstrated success" and "personal attributes"). The video statement is to mostly have a quick look at your "presence" & "interests" - to get to know you better. (Check out the youtube video by the admissions team)

So I don't think you're going to score any extra points by wearing the jersey. Instead you could show your love for the team through talking about an incident or example. Appearing professional and smart will be a low-risk approach.. and if I were you I would avoid wearing it.

But its your decision. Go for it if you really want to. Nonetheless, in my opinion the video statement is not going to have a material impact on getting you an interview if MIT doesn't rate you highly on the other real aspects of the application.

Hey All, when do we get to write a second essay( assuming cover letter first). Is it after the interview invite?

Yes, almost life-long avid supporter.

What confused me is the way they talked in their video tips. Apparently they are expecting the applicants to be creative, and I don't know how creative you can be if only verbal statement, maybe a rap or poem? In addition, even though the video will be watched by AO, the intended audience is the future classmates.

Nice! I am one too and I attended a game at Old Trafford for the first time while visiting UK earlier this year. Great experience. :)

Yes, you only have to write a second essay if you get an interview invite.

Disagree, wear something appropriate. I’d probably avoid soccer jerseys or anything too loud but I think they want to see that you can look professional without being a drone.

Well, you can watch their Youtube channel - they give advice on this. You can read Vince Ricci's blog, or Adam Markus, or ApplicantLab.

They will all tell you, dress professionally.

But it's your call in the end - i would use content to be expressive, not gimmicks.

I wore a suit for mine. Didn't even consider wearing anything else to be honest. Better to be safe than sorry

I apologize, I didn’t mean to be as blunt as I probably came off. I agree, I think dressing professionally is a very safe move and can’t hurt you.

I also think wearing nice, well put together “street clothes” may make sense depending on your video setting and who you are.

My main point was don’t wear anything too loud.

The video on their admissions page gave no indication on what to wear. It just said “be professional, be yourself”

I applied for the LGO and because I'm an engineer currently working in the tech industry, I just wore a t-shirt and recorded the video at park by my house.

Yes, see the Interview Overview. I do not know how much time you have to submit it, but you can obviously start working on it now.
