Nah mate, being an Indian applicant (from the most competitive GMAT pool in the world) with a score 21 points below the school's average is sheer madness. From my basic research & linkedIn-ing, most other applicants from my region are in the 750++ range, so with that in mind...... :lol:

I registered for beginning of December, but now I am not sure if I am going to have enough time to prepare... Been very busy and barely have any time to go over the quant guides that I purchased :crazy:

Just got invited to interview!

Submitted on 10/15 a few minutes before midnight. I was given the choice to either interview through the normal process or on the Diversity Interview day on 02/20. I chose to interview in December because I don't want to wait that long, and I've already been to a diversity event at Stern.

Just received my invitation to interview today! I applied on 10/15.

Oddly enough, there's no evidence of Stern having viewed my personal expression essay on Youtube. There are 50+ views, but I've accounted for most of them (friends that I've shown to). I can also track the analytics and determine where in the US people view my video, and NY hasn't been one of them (only California). I know the geography analytics are pretty accurate because I tested this while traveling across the country at different airports.

Guys, I heard from a few last year applicants that Stern conducts interviews in India only in the month of March. In that case, are Indian applicants receiving interview invites in R1 expected to interview on campus / any other location / Skype ?

Would really appreciate some clarity on the same. TIA.


I spoke to them during the info session and they don't do off campus interviews till March. Skype interviews happen only for people in remote areas and specific cases. The only other way is to go to New York and have it done, if you do not want to wait till April to know your fate.

The way Stern does interview/ admit is on rolling basis, aka the earlier you interview the earlier you know your results. They are not like other schools (H/S/W) where they release the decision in one day...so basically the earlier you interview, the more slots remain vacant, hence more chances for you.

I talked to the admission during my campus visit and that's what they told me ("try to interview as early as possible")...but they didn't specify how much of an advantage. I'm sure they will save spots for people who can't travel or R2/3/4 applicants.
