Best of luck every one. For people travelling to Oxford, enjoy the magnificent place and absorb as much Oxford as you can :). In my year, we got one hop-in hop off bus ticket for free and it was so much fun to see Oxford around with my future cohort mates after the interview.

A stark observation (personal)- If you have been called for an interview you have a high chance of converting it into an admit. For the data seekers, I interviewed with at-least 40-50 candidates (that I can recall now) during my time and I saw almost 80-90% of them during my Kick-off :). Give your best!

Some interview tips (please follow your consultants' tips if you have one, don't wanna derail someone's tips). Jotting some from my own experience..
1. You will be paired with someone matching/handling your industry and or profile. This must have been communicated in advance, read about them, it helps.
2. Have an idea about how people perceive you? For example, does your recommender think that you are a hard worker or has he or she appreciated you for your work ethics? If you know where you connected with your recommender that can show that your are a well aware candidate and know your plus and minuses.
2. Generic one- be yourself, I have high regards for the Oxford interviewers as if they can see through you. Life happens and you might not follow your application to the core during your MBA prog. Nonetheless, people will be impressed if you can put your (post-MBA) plans coherently.
3. Your profile has almost given them the info about you but don't forget to talk about the impacts (social or other) that you made and flex your love for Oxford/networking knowledge if you did some research. Oxford loves to know what kind of ambassador will you be once your are an Oxonian!
4. Don't be afraid of the allotted time frame, mine was scheduled for 30 mins and it got over in 20 mins. My first thought was that I didn't make a mark but yup got an admit.
So enjoy your time and All the best folks!!

sakys, Thank you very much for taking time to write a detailed post on SBS interviews and how to prepare for them. I am sure applicants will benefit from your advice a lot.

Since you have been a part of the interview process, I can't resist but to ask how things move forward after the interview. Do adcom review the whole application, or the decision is made mostly on interview performance?

Hi Naren,

My interaction with Alumni earlier indicated that the adcom considers your whole profile, i.e. application + score and interview and then there is kind of a debate in the committee after which they choose your candidacy. I am afraid I don't have a definite answer for this but maybe you can ask the Oxford MBA admissions team.

Thanks much for the reply. So in essence committee debate is the place where ultimate decision is made after examining your application, scores, and interview performance. Hope my interpretation is correct.
