I did. I originally thought everyone received one, but it appears only those interviewed from the US receive them.
I see, but no indication that this gesture always leads to an acceptance?

I believe it is just a good gesture, nothing to deduct of it. And it's not just the US, I am in Canad and have rec'd it - TWICE. And both the times, I was put on wait list.

Hello, Earlier while appyling during second round I was not having any visa of US. Right now I am waitlist after interview. I have recently received B1/B2 visa of US. Do I need to update the admission committee about my visa status.

If i remember correctly, b1 is for general travelling purpose and the school is more interested in visas like F1 or H1B. I wouldn't just send this as an update to the admission if I were you.
Anyone know if historically R3 has to wait until the decision deadline to find out about acceptance? I know other rounds sometimes inform applicants early if they are accepted. Thanks!

Thank you. I would better not send this as an update
Hi...have any waitlisted students received any updates from the school regarding the admission?

I got an email yesterday letting me know that they hope to be sending out some waitlist admissions in the next few weeks, and the whole process should be wrapped up by June 1st.
@Hiren2011..you got waitlisted last year as well, if I am correct. Did you receive any such mail last year??

Yup. Pretty much exact same wording too. But it was on 10th of May and eventually I was released on 6th of June. So yeah, that deflates a bit of an enthusiasm, I would still be hopeful.

@Hiren2011...Thank you for the info too! That is helpful. It is hard to tell then if getting the e-mail is a hopeful sign or the oposite. I am going to search a bit more on previous years’ forums.
I did not receive such an e-mail. Heartbreaking :/

TA89 - I wouldn’t let that get you down. From how the e-mail was worded, it could have even been a less hopeful sign. It was worded as that they hope to accept a few off the waitlist and then update everyone by June 1st. It didn’t word it as though they hoped to try to extend a spot to me. I am going to search past forums to see if I notice any patterns with this.
