I hate to be that guy but seriously, those who didn't get an invite (that includes me too), lets just move on?
B-School applications have always been a black box and it is the schools prerogative to invite the applicants it does. If you think that Ross has been unfair to you maybe you should read the stories of who Harvard dinged this year (
https://poetsandquants.com/2015/10/25/yo ... his-month/). And I get the feeling - I have been rejected twice by Ross, both the times without an invite, I took the GMAT twice between last time and now and even hired an expensive admissions consultant this time- to say that I am disappointed will be an understatement. But you have to move on knowing that these schools are able to maintain their top quality only by doing what they do. The application process is a black box and you knew that going in. Keep telling yourself this - you have to get into just ONE school.
All those who have invites and those who are preparing for Round 2, I think you guys should take over the discussion from here on. For those of us rejected, let's just wait till December to see what Ross has planned for us.
Speaking as someone who got invited to Michigan Ross AND appeared in that poets x quants article, I agree with this comment. Am I upset that I got dinged by HBS? Sure.
But I get it.
There are lots of incredibly talented people who apply to that school and all of these other great institutions. There's no sense being bitter about the process -- you have to do your best to present yourself, but at the end of the day, we all WANT to get into these schools, and a big part of the reason is BECAUSE they are so incredibly selective. Getting some dings is part of the process that enables that selectivity.
When you go on a long drive, do you return home when you see the first two lights 'Red'?! Just keep at it buddies, and there shall be light at the enjd of the tunnel! (Hopefully, it's not an incoming train! Thats not an original btw!)
