Hi Guys,
Need some advice from fellow Michigan applicants. I am from India and considering applying to Michigan in R2. Gave my gmat yesterday and got a 710 (Q 47, V 41). In terms of work experience, I have 7 years experience till date ( 8 by the time I start class). 6 years from the 7 have been in banking (retail and commercial) into trade finance and currency market. For last one year I have been involved in my family business which is into stock and commodity broking business. Have had a steady growth in my professional career ( 2 promotions in one organisation and 1 in another) and have also managed various teams in these years. Plus have also been able to expand my family business to some extent through new clients and expanded product portfolio. Have good EC's as well. Any particular tips if you guys can share with me regarding applying to Michigan? Also, I know I have given a very basic overview of my profile but still, is such a profile strong enough to apply to Michigan?
My experience with the Michigan application was that it was one of the least unique and most straight forward (this is a good thing). The essay questions are similiar to many other MBA essays, so you can probably incorporate some material from other applications/essays you may have already completed.
The only advice I would have would be what I'd say to anyone applying to any program:
Focus on highlighting what is special/unique/impressive about yourself and think of how to make yourself stand out.
Try and get a focus on the cultures and values of the School and think of why the MBA program is a good match for yourself. (i.e. Ross is team focused, and good for "Hand's on" learners)
Have a well thought out plan and reason for Why you want an MBA and what you want to achieve with it.
You definitely should have a good shot of getting in if you try hard enough.
