I hate to be that guy but seriously, those who didn't get an invite (that includes me too), lets just move on?

B-School applications have always been a black box and it is the schools prerogative to invite the applicants it does. If you think that Ross has been unfair to you maybe you should read the stories of who Harvard dinged this year (https://poetsandquants.com/2015/10/25/yo ... his-month/). And I get the feeling - I have been rejected twice by Ross, both the times without an invite, I took the GMAT twice between last time and now and even hired an expensive admissions consultant this time- to say that I am disappointed will be an understatement. But you have to move on knowing that these schools are able to maintain their top quality only by doing what they do. The application process is a black box and you knew that going in. Keep telling yourself this - you have to get into just ONE school.

All those who have invites and those who are preparing for Round 2, I think you guys should take over the discussion from here on. For those of us rejected, let's just wait till December to see what Ross has planned for us.

Speaking as someone who got invited to Michigan Ross AND appeared in that poets x quants article, I agree with this comment. Am I upset that I got dinged by HBS? Sure.

But I get it.

There are lots of incredibly talented people who apply to that school and all of these other great institutions. There's no sense being bitter about the process -- you have to do your best to present yourself, but at the end of the day, we all WANT to get into these schools, and a big part of the reason is BECAUSE they are so incredibly selective. Getting some dings is part of the process that enables that selectivity.

Those graphs are a nice visualization but sample size is pretty small and theres a lot of variables that arent being considered. (Work History, Undergrad University ect). Working at Mckinsey vs Dunder Mifflin make a big difference. I think these factors are the "tie-breakers" when some of the other credentials are similar.

Any interview debriefs?

I had mine on 10/31. Alumni interview in Shanghai.

Fairly straightforward and casual. It went about 50 minutes. Typical questions: tell me about your background, your career goals, problems you faced and had overcome in your work, and so on. The interviewer was a good listener- many of the questions he asked were based on my responses. He was very helpful and provided some great info regarding his experiences in the program. If you come prepared with good questions to ask, you'll certainly leave with better insight on Ross.

Last Monday, on getting the email I scheduled an in-person off campus interview in Chennai for 4th Nov. I haven't got the exact location and contact of the alum yet. Do I write to the Ross Interview team or do I wait till 3rd evening?

Would recommend not waiting till so late. I got a response from my alum interviewer last Tuesday within an hour of scheduling the interview.
Have scheduled my in-person interview in Delhi for next week.

I've heard of people getting an admit after being waitlisted WITH interview. But I've never heard of someone getting an invite after being waitlisted w/o interview.

You could search the previous year threads to see if you find someone.

Did anyone get an email invite for the November Information Session in Delhi? (https://michiganross.umich.edu/events/ro ... -new-delhi)
Looks like it is a send-to-all email but if we have been dinged, is there any point to attend the event?

Hi Guys,

Need some advice from fellow Michigan applicants. I am from India and considering applying to Michigan in R2. Gave my gmat yesterday and got a 710 (Q 47, V 41). In terms of work experience, I have 7 years experience till date ( 8 by the time I start class). 6 years from the 7 have been in banking (retail and commercial) into trade finance and currency market. For last one year I have been involved in my family business which is into stock and commodity broking business. Have had a steady growth in my professional career ( 2 promotions in one organisation and 1 in another) and have also managed various teams in these years. Plus have also been able to expand my family business to some extent through new clients and expanded product portfolio. Have good EC's as well. Any particular tips if you guys can share with me regarding applying to Michigan? Also, I know I have given a very basic overview of my profile but still, is such a profile strong enough to apply to Michigan?

My experience with the Michigan application was that it was one of the least unique and most straight forward (this is a good thing). The essay questions are similiar to many other MBA essays, so you can probably incorporate some material from other applications/essays you may have already completed.

The only advice I would have would be what I'd say to anyone applying to any program:
Focus on highlighting what is special/unique/impressive about yourself and think of how to make yourself stand out.
Try and get a focus on the cultures and values of the School and think of why the MBA program is a good match for yourself. (i.e. Ross is team focused, and good for "Hand's on" learners)
Have a well thought out plan and reason for Why you want an MBA and what you want to achieve with it.

You definitely should have a good shot of getting in if you try hard enough.
