Quick comparison of Interview invites for Yale SOM

Interesting. Obviously a pretty small N, but I find the shift in applicants interesting. Compared to last cycle, more applied in R1 and fewer in R2, but with a fairly similar number of applicants overall (presumably, some members add their info late).

I wonder if folks who would have been R2 applicants instead applied in R1, in response to SOM's rise.

For us R2 applicants who were invited to interview, the lower R2 Invited to Interview number is heartening. It suggests that if there was a shift to R1, and a corresponding increase in acceptances, that SOM compensated by inviting fewer applicants in R2. Hopefully, that means we still have the 60% chance of admission that invites have historically had.

Anyway, how's that for reading tea leaves?

I'm not sure how much we can read into these numbers. Zakkwylde posted similar analyses for Tuck and Darden, and they all show the exact same pattern. Perhaps GMATclub members in general aren't reporting their interview invites as frequently as they have in the past.

Any suggestions on quote that we have to submit 48hrs before Interview..

Sent from my Le X526 using GMAT Club Forum mobile app

My interviewer actually forgot to ask about the quote, but I went with one on the nature of leadership. It sounds like a pretty standard topic, but I was able to find a pretty unique quote that hit on an aspect of leadership that I'd never seen any other quote speak to. But whatever quote you choose, make sure it's one that you can tie into your life experiences, your goals and aspirations, etc.

I agree with mgo113, make sure that you can explain why the selected quote resonates with you. I think the quote is not as important as the reason why you selected it. Everyone I spoke to was asked a question about the quote. Besides that, you can expect a pretty standard set of question: why yale, why mba and a few behavioral questions. Good luck!

Very well a possibility. Not to forget
A. A greater number of students applied in R1 or
B. A greater number of students accepted seats in R1 or
C. Colleges went for First come first serve basis, which led to fewer options for applicants who tried in R2.

Considering Yale gets close to 4000 Applications yearly,a sample size of 400 i believe is quite representative. Anyway was fun.
Best of luck to you all. :)

Heard several things at WW (not sure how true they are)

1. Combined Round 1 and round 2 apps already surpassed last years overall total.
2. Higher percentage of round 1 applicants were accepted than in previous years
3. Higher round 1 yield than expected.

Nah, if they're interviewing you, they're interested. Keep your hopes up; you have no reason not to at this point. Just wait it out until d day.

I'm guessing the decisions for non-Consortium interviewed applicants all come in on the d-day?

Anyone knows when Yale starts releasing admission decisions? For class of 2017, they called on decision day whereas last year (Class of 2018) calls started a day before the decision date. Wondering what will happen this year. Anyone had a word with adcom/interviewer in this context?

Don't quote me but I think they should call on 03/23. Last year the decision date was on Good Friday so it was a holiday, hence the day early.

It seems like it. Thanks for the info. Let's wait until March 23rd.
