I applied to Sauder on February 29th and was told last week that my application was passed onto the AdCom committee (although they said my official documents were missing - which they aren't, they were sent before I even submitted my application, why they need my official transcripts for just a review is beyond me).

How long did it take before you heard back from them on the first review as to whether or not you were getting an interview or were rejected?

I applied on Jan 1st, got the mail saying my application has gone for initial review on March 1st.

My mail said official documents are missing(official transcripts and official degree certificate).

Got interview invite on March 7th. Interview was on 17th March and got reject on March 31st.

The wait doesnt seem to end. Submitted my application on 8th jan (R2) and still no word from them. Guys do u think there's a chance I might hear from them? anyone else in the same boat?

I had submitted my application on 3rd Jan 2016. I got an interview invite only on 3rd march and my interview was on 11Th March. I got selcted on 18th March. So, Yea they do take more time than other universities. Also, on a positive note until you get ding from UBC you're still there with a chance as they are not looking for reasons to reject you rather they are looking for reasons to accept you. Please let me know for any more concerns.
Thanks

For scholarship - Did you guys got that information in a separate mail or in the same acceptance mail?

Hi AKSH19,

I got a scholarship letter along with a separate email having my offer of admission.

Hi guys,

I had applied in round 3 and got invited for an interview next week. It'll be great if someone can share any recent interview experiences and questions. I have been through a few of the earlier posts so if any of you'll have interviewed recently, please do share if possible.

Good luck !

Hi Akshya41,

Congrats on the interview! I'm just curious if you might be able to provide your stats (GMAT, GPA, WE, etc.) and also let us know how they contacted you regarding the interview. Seems a few people on this forum have interviewed already, so you might want to message them directly in case they're not following the thread anymore.

Thanks for your help - good luck next week!

Hi Akshya41,
First of all congratulations for getting an interview call. I would reiterate that now that you have been shortlisted for an interview you should justify your essays and video response as the adcom is looking for reasons to select you not to reject you.
Now, the questions they might ask you could be
1) Tell me about yourself
- Dont try to to tell general stuff. they have already read that in your resume and other parts of application. Try to let them know about the real you about which you could not write in essays. Try to weave it in a chronical form.
2) walk me through your resume
- Don't tell generic stuff again. Try to mention details and accomplishments. stating figures' numbers and your contribution to the projects will be helpful.
3) Why Sauder? why this year?
- Honest response would be highly appreciated. TIP - Don't vomit stuff/Info. which is alraedy available on the school website or on google.
Find something unique. Talk to current students/alums. Do a lot of reserach. I guess 2nd essay for ubC Application had the same question. So, it shouldnt be a difficulty for you.
4) Mention any challenging situation at work?/ Any challenging colleague?/ a situation that you could have handled differently?
- Try to make yourself sound honest, genuine and interesting. No one is interested in listening to a boring story. Make it lively, be energetic and confident.
5) What do you bring to Sauder class?
- Mention your achievemnets and how you will be able to contribute to the classroom learning.
6) Why a low gmat Score? (only if you have less that 650-660)
- Be honest. Don't try to give lame excuses.

Just be confident. Prepare well for the interview. I had prepared my responses and practised them standing in front of the mirror.
Don't be surprised to hear any unexpected questions. I was spontaneous and honest. It worked for me.
All the best!!

Hope to see you in fall 2016..

Hi Jivesh,

Firstly thanks a ton for the detailed response. I believe it will be very useful while preparing for the interview. I am quite happy with the response timeline of UBC for this round since I see they took longer for previous rounds. Were you a Round 2 candidate and do you recollect the name of your interviewer?
And congrats on your admit.. Great stuff!! Hope I make it :).. Will keep you posted!

I feel like I might be in trouble if you guys are considering a GMAT of 610 quite low. My GMAT was 550, exactly the minimum required. But I'm hoping my 4.0 GPA and 10 years WE will offset that.

Hi Again,

Yes I had applied in round 2. My interviewers name was Katerina. She was nice but seemed disinterested initially. Within next 5-10 mins, I realised I was not able to make her interested. This was the biggest opportunity of my life and I had to make use of it to the fullest. I changed my strategy and started telling her things in a way that she could related to them. And after that It was me who was controlling the direction of the interview. So, make the interviewer interested in you and your profile. Be well prepared and you'll rock the show.
All the Best...

Hi Marlowmoo.

I had similar thoughts when I was applying to Sauder. To be honest 550 is not a very great score, its definitely a very low score and as u told its a the minimum score required as wel. SO, IT SAYS IT ALL. BUT BUT BUT If you get an interview call from Sauder, you should be assured that they don't care about your gmat soo much now. Once you're selected they want you to showcase yourself and give reason why they should select you. So, if you get an interview call just forget about your low gmat score. You surely must have other strong points in your application that will ensure that you gte through. 10 years of WE is huge along with 4.0 GPA. I know a person who made it to harvard with 580and he had quite a similar profile.
Just be positive about yourself and showcase yourself in such a way that your gmat score of 550 should not be a concern to anyone. Prepare well for the interview and give your best. I have mentioned interview questions in one of my posts above, go through them and you'll be fine to secure a birth in the Sauder 2016 class. (Note - you should be a fit to the school as well)
all the best!!

Depends where you live. I only live the next province over, so I was able to use points to fly to Vancouver (the prices are higher than they would be if there was a few weeks notice. For me, it costs twice as much than normal)

If it costs too much, then I'd say Skype it, but I would rather be there in person, as I know I do better when I'm there in person
