2020Mission700
Hi all,

I have my first GMAT attempt in 15 days from now and I would like to aim high (700+) targeting M7/T15 schools with ~ 5 years MBB experience and an otherwise strong profile.

After some basic study and practice from the 2020 OG, I gave my first mock today in which I scored a 630 (Q41, V35). Timing was a key issue in the quant section where I lost out considerable amount of time, practically throwing away the last ~4-5 Qs at the very least.

What would you, the experts, recommend as a study plan for me for the next ~2 weeks building up to my exam? I have read sufficient literature that speaks about a few months of dedicated study required and I understand that it does take a lot more practice. I'm looking for some targeted support here to boost my scores to Q45-50 and V40 or more.

TIA,
G.

It's hard to reach your expected quant score within this short period of time. If you did not touch 4 questions in quant part, you should take official mock once more and you'll know your present position.
In this time you must stick with official question-don't study new question from the unofficial question in these days. You should care about your careless mistake.

Two weeks is little short plus 700+ can mean 710 or 750 or 770....
700 score needs Q51,V35 at least but getting Q50/51 needs lot of insightful practice for which 2 weeks is looks short. However, my comments are based in general as a lot depends on the candidates.
If you are not well through with Verbal then improving it would be hell of a pain to reach V40, V35 is promising though.

For a start, in the next two weeks you should see where you made mistakes topic-wise. As you mentioned timing issues, it would be difficult to gauge at what time you faltered if it's official mock that you gave.
Give another mock in next couple of days to see any if any improvement is there. If you achieve 700+ it would be one rare of a job.

All the best..!!

You have a lot scope to increase in Quant. Check the question topics where you put wrong answers, focus on basics. You will improve n 2-3 weeks with focused preparation. All the best.

Hi there. Bumping your score by 70 points, given that you took the test under normal exam conditions and did not experience headache or noise interruptions, will be a big challenge in 2 weeks. Although, there are some people who nailed it. I recommend that you do a throughout analysis of all qs in your mock. Analyze why you got each question right/wrong. Was it for correct reasons? What can you do to avoid that mistake or how can you ensure you will get the same type of q correct next time. Most likely you will not learn anything significant and be able to apply that knowledge in the exam within 2 weeks. Rather focus on your strengths. good luck

Thanks mira93! I have pushed my study as well as analysis and can attribute most mistakes to silly errors + a few conceptual gaps in quant or a momentary lack of focus (possibly driven by a time crunch) in verbal - once I review my incorrect answers, I don't even have to check what the correct answer would've been.

Given that I am making good progress in terms of study structure and strategy, I am planning to reschedule my exam by 20 days which gives me a month from now to finalise prep.

I've used TargetTestPrep for quant prep for the past 5 days on trial but I'm still not sure if it's good enough to push me from a Q44-45 (where I'm approx at right now) to a Q50. What do you guys think? Is that worth it or should I look at some other test prep material? I don't need a lot of videos with basic being repeated, I'm a quick learner so need comprehensive materials which I can learn myself from at an accelerated pace.

Thanks again!
