Thank you anshul for this insight. Congratulations on your score! May I know how did you prepare for verbal, the books or questions referred, any online tutoring/self study, and how was the verbal section during exam?

Thanks in advance.

This was my first GMAT attempt ever, so I do not have the benchmark to compare the GMAT online quants section against the at-center one.

However, I felt that Quants section was almost as easy as (or even easier than) the official GMAT mock tests. In the actual exam, by the time I reached the last question of quants section, I had about 10 minutes left to go. This never happened during my mocks where I typically had about 3 minutes to go on the last question. TBH, I was a little afraid during the exam on seeing easy questions in the 25-31 questions slot, thinking that I had probably messed up a lot of my earlier questions. I'm so glad that it was not the case. The only takeaway that I have is that once you are at the exam, do NOT think about the questions you have already solved. Just focus on completing the remaining questions on time with accuracy.

That said, I come from Engineering background and Quants has always been my strong area. Moreover, I had been practicing the hardest Quants problems from Magoosh and OG during the final two days of prep. Perhaps, that's why the Quants seemed easier to me on the actual test. At the end, I think it is quite subjective. What might seem easier for you might be difficult for someone else and vice-versa.

I was able to solve the final Quants question under 2 minutes and utilized the rest of the 7-8 minutes as a virtual break to reorient myself to verbal section. I can't tell enough about the importance of this break! During mocks, I experienced the mental exhaustion first hand. With the mental fatigue, despite you knowing the concepts and having the knowledge, you tend to do more stupid mistakes. Those 5 extra minutes are a great breather for your brain.

Thank you quote="anshulsinghxd"] for the details. I am in the final leg of preparation and been giving mocks for sometime now. I have realised that I somehow need that 4 min break atleast to get over quant section. My mocks are going decent but most of the time my quant gets over just at time. I am still debilitating over test center or online. Hence was curious. Thanks a lot

Hey anshulsinghxd, can you please confirm your verbal materials. Was the Magoosh verbal enough for you or did you refer to any other materials?

Any help will be highly appreciated. :) Thanks in advance!

for those who have sat/sitting with the physical whiteboard - how did you find erasing the board in a quick time. If you just use an eraser marker it needs to be damp and even then will need tissue to get rid of smudged ink? best seems to be wet wipe and then dry with tissue?

my board is pretty big and double sided (fits dimensions) and could do 10 questions each side so 20. so would only need to erase once, but it seems time consuming regardless

Hey guys. I have 2 questions on the gmat online exam:
1) Can i bring water to drink during the exam? I'm easily dehydrated and really need water from time to time.
2) If i have a super messy room, should i really clean it first? Will the gmat online proctor care about the condition of my testing area?

Thanks fellas!

For verbal Sentence Correction, I referred Manhattan Sentence Correction book for the rules. Their 3 way - Grammar, Meaning, Concision - approach to solve questions seemed quite useful to me. I combined this with the Magoosh and OG question banks.

For Critical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension, I just stuck with the Magoosh material. These two sections are largely logical. Hence the key is to practice more.

1) You can bring water, as long as the bottle is totally transparent and it does not have any stickers or text.
2) Your proctor may ask to do a few adjustments based on the condition of your room. To be on safe side and to avoid that extra burden of doing those adjustments at last minute, keep the room tidy and don't keep anything that has any text in your room. Also keep mirrors out of sight.

Hi Folks,
I gave my GMAT Online on 24th October. Dont have the scores yet. But I have a few takeaways :

1. Its a myth that the Quant section is harder on the onlin GMAT. It was at par with the mock tests. I am writing this with high confidence about getting most of quant questions right.

2. RC was a nightmare.

3. Check in process in detail :

a. Goto mba.com and launch exam
b. U ll be asked to enter your phone number to get link
c. Upload pics on link. 4 sides. Instructions will be there.
D. Press refresh on computer and keep mobile away in silent.
E. Someone from pearson vue will call u. Show him around from laptop cam. Ask any questions.
F. He will launch the exam, end the call and another proctor will join.
G. This 2nd person will be available on chat and your exam will start. You will see a thin ribbon with access code and your video on middle top of window.

I dont even knw the name of my proctor. No contact at all. Just remember to show him the whiteboard at start of exam, start of break, end of break and end of exam.

I will post a detailed debrief once I have my scores. I got a probability question in math around 14th question and bold face around 17th in verbal. Although i am confident of a q49+ on maths, i think i have screwed up verbal since i had to guess several questions at the end.

Please note that if the onvue software shows that your mic isnt working, maybe your room is too silent. Try coughing while the system test is running. Worked for me after a failed mic test.

Got my results today!

730 - Q50, V38

Results took less than 48 hours.

My exam was scheduled at 12pm on Wednesday. Got the results today early morning on Friday.

I'm happy with the scores, so I guess this is the end of my GMAT journey. :)

I have been reading that GMAT online quant is more time taking and difficult as compared to test center mode. Is it true?

Found a nice sentence on GMAC website for sentence correction.

GMAT™ Online scores are typically available within 7 business days of completing your exam. In some cases, additional quality control steps may be necessary to ensure the results is accurate and valid. This additional review can take up to 20 days.

Whatt??? Does that mean a person might have to wait for 20 days if he/she fall under this "criteria"? Plus can't give another attempt(offline) incase performed bad and got to know about it 20 days later:roll:

Does anybody know where I can download my GMAT online score report? I just found out that I need to upload it for my application but I don't seem to find the download option anywhere on the GMAC site (I took the exam on October 5th and got my results 3 days later).
Thanks in advance!

Hi friends, i have another question.

My laptop is placed on my desk as below (it has immovable plank on the upper side, highlighted in red):

As a result, my head is cropped from my laptop cam, as below (highlighted in red as well):

The question is, will it be a problem for the exam? I'm afraid it will fail the verification processes.

Yes it might be a problem. Also, this is not an ergonomic position since your spine isnt straight and you won't be as efficient as otherwise in a correct posture.
