I am stuck in quite a unique situation.

First attempt ( December 2018) : Q49 V23
(600)
Second attempt (December 2019) : Q42 V37(640)

My question : will the business school consider the highest score in each of the sections in two attempts. What I mean is : will my quant be considered as Q49 and Verbal as V37 of the two tests??

Hi AdityaHongunti,

Business schools do not consider your highest quant and highest verbal scores. Are you able to retake the GMAT?

Hi AdityaHongunti,

As a general rule, Business Schools will NOT 'piece together' a best result based on the all of the individual GMAT Scores that you submit. While this 640 is a solid Score (and a nice improvement over your prior 600), the drop in Quant Scaled Score could problematic. The Q42 might be seen as a 'red flag' at certain Programs, although if your Overall profile is strong, that Quant Scaled Score might not impact your applications too much.

You're ultimately asking Admissions questions though, so you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

1) What application deadlines are you currently facing?

You might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

They will consider the test attempt that you submit to them. However, you could not take the test one section at a time and cherry-pick things.

Hi AdityaHongunti.

Nice job driving your verbal score higher.

While schools won't just take your two best scores and put them together, the good news is that driving up your verbal score was the hard part.

Now, keep working on verbal, to drive verbal a bit higher and lock in an upper 30s verbal score, and do the easier part, driving up your quant score point by point by working on quant topic by topic.
