What's the difference between MBA and Executive MBA?

Question:
If someone don't take his/her regular MBA yet, should s/he directly involve with Executive MBA? What's the benefit and hindrance of Executive MBA over regular MBA?
Thanks__

- Class profiles of Exec MBA (EMBA) and regular MBA are usually different. More experience, working/non-working professionals with life experiences, desire to broaden horizons, etc.

- Job opportunities may be different for the two groups, flowing directly from the different profiles.

- EMBAs may emphasize different styles of teaching, e.g., fewer lectures and more discussions, team work, etc.

- EMBAs can be very specific in their focus, while regular MBAs feature broader syllabuses.

- There are also sponsorship differences in some cases.

All that said, please note that there are major variations. There are many regular MBA programs (usually, but not always, lower-tier) that have "older" working or non-working professionals and other types of students. That is, the class profiles of these MBA programs are similar to those in the EMBA but actually function as regular MBA programs. This depends on local climates, geography, economy, etc.

Thank you. I think I also learnt something from your post. Cheers

Hey

There are many subtle parameters but the difference primarily boils down to who you study with.

Many people do MBA for networking and the experienced classmates may give you an edge
