More than the Manhattan books, I think one of the detailed video based courses might help you better to start from the basics and then proceed towards more complexity. Try out TTP, Manhattan online or e-gmat (if you're a non-native English speaker)

Thanks for info and your answer. You helped me a lot, I did not think that I would find something here.

Hi Master223,

During this early phase of your studies, you are clearly learning and improving. That having been said, many GMATers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so if you've been studying for just 6 weeks, then you will likely need more than just another 4 weeks to get to the point that you can consistently score 620+. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) On your CATs/mocks did you have to rush to finish the Verbal sections? Did you leave any questions unanswered?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

Thank you very much for your response guys!

I didn't have to rush the questions in the GMAT practice exam, rather I had more time at the end.

I want to study 5h * 6 days in a week.

My biggest problem is that my vocabulary is not so in depth. Some academic passages were difficult to read for me. In addition, sometimes I didn't understand whether I had to find weaken or strengthen arguments.

Because I am living in Germany (I am not an English nativ speaker) and I don't want to study in a foreign country, I want to do my Master of Science in Economics at the University at Cologne. The university doesn't' require a specific GMAT score. Doing the exam is optional to improve the chances.

Hey guys,

My goal for my GMAT in 4 weeks (12th June) is to achieve more than 620 points. I have started to learn for more than 6 weeks but my improvement is really bad.
Practise Exam 1 (04/22/2022): 430 score -> Q31 /V18
Practise Exam 2 (05/14/2022): 480 score -> Q38 (20 of 31 right) /V19 (19 of 36 right)

I am learning with OG2021 and Manhattan "All the Gmat". I am using an error log but don't know how to learn with it. What's the perfect approach to learn the concepts? I finished the Manhattanprep but the OG are harder.

Do you think that it is possible to get a >620 score?

Hi Master223,

Before you start preparing for any test, it's important to understand the structure of the test, what is tested on it and then prepare accordingly. In this case, GMAT is a test which focuses on your application skills along with the conceptual knowledge. So, just learning the concepts and practicing questions without focusing on the right methodology will not do any good. So, I suggest you to first focus on the methodology to solve questions of a particular topic and only then move to practicing questions of that topic.

How to prepare for GMAT in the right way?

So, the right way to prepare would be to first

  • Deal with one topic at a time
  • learn the concepts of a topic
  • learn the right methodology to solve questions of that topic
  • practice a few questions of that topic making sure that you use the right methodology to solve questions
  • Repeat the process for all the topics

And working on weak areas is equally important. You move to the next topic only if you get a decent accuracy in the previous topic. If not, you revisit the concepts, fill the conceptual gaps and then move to the next topic only when you are 100% confident. You can go through the articles below to understand the approach in a better way.

How to effectively plan your studies for GMAT

How to score 700+ on GMAT

How to start preparing for GMAT

And you can go through the recording below to understand how to strategize your GMAT prep in an effective way.

And I suggest you to choose a standard resource which can help you prepare for GMAT in the right way. As GMAT is a test of application of concepts, make sure to choose an application focused course. A course with an integrated study plan will suit you the best. You can go through the article below to understand the right way to choose the online course.

Key factors to consider while choosing an online course for GMAT

Hope it helped.

Feel free to reach out in case of any queries!

Dear Master223,
my verbal score is similar to yours. I also read the Manhattan guides and other books, but these materials did not bring me the visible result; the issue is that reading the materials and learn from them are two different points. Thus, to improve my verbal score I have started to employ the TTP service to improve verbal score, because its well organized study plan and unique approach already helped me to ameliorate my quant score. I have not consummated the Verbal part yet, but what do I say is that its curriculum, not only covers all general materials but also provides step by step guide to hone the acquired knowledge. Moreover, I have found answers to some SC questions that were not presented in the Manhattan guide such as delayed subject, inter and outer list etc.
