(1) c^2 - 1 is odd.
(2) (c - 3)(d + 2) is odd.

(1) c^2 - 1 is odd.

c^2=odd+1=odd+odd=even

Squaring an integer does not change its odd/even nature so c must be even

1 is sufficient

(2) (c - 3)(d + 2) is odd.

Note that only odd*odd=odd

So c-3=odd
c=odd+3=odd+odd=even

2 is sufficient

Answer is (D)

#1
c^2 - 1 is odd.
possible when c is even ; sufficient
#2
(c - 3)(d + 2) is odd
c-3 has to be odd which is possible when c is even and d is odd
sufficient
IMO D
