Hi MikaelD,

I agree that a Q44 wouldn't impress anyone at a Finance-centric Program, so retaking the GMAT (with the goal of significantly improving your Quant Scaled Score) makes sense. With a planned Test Date in about a month, you could still get in plenty of practice time and hone your Quant skills. A Q44 implies that you did really well on most of the "math questions" that you saw on the Official GMAT, but you made some little mistakes throughout the section and missed out on lots of 'strategy-based' points. Based on everything that you've described, I think that you would find the EMPOWERgmat Quant Score Booster to be quite helpful. Most of our clients complete that Study Plan in under a month, so that Study Plan would fit your general timeline. We have a variety of free resources on our site (www.empowergmat.com), so you can 'test out' the Course before setting up an account.

If you have any additional questions, then feel free to contact me directly.

Hi,

I know this has probably been answered before, but I couldn't find any good answer from the last couple of years, and things might have changed.

I did my gmat a few months ago and scored a 690 (V41, Q44). Now I have started preparing for a new try, and I have taken two manhattan tests:
670 (Q45, V37)
670 (Q44, V38)

I have also taken a few of the gmatclub quant tests, but they seem to be variating to much to be reliable (Q everything from 29-45).

I am wondering if you guys have any insights in the predicability of especially the manhattan tests?

Hi MikaelD

You must know that most students who get the score in Manhattan in Quant in range of 44-46 end up getting a score of 47-49 in actual GMAT test so please understand that the scoring of manhattan from this perspective is a little conservative. Similar is the story of GMAT CLUB tests. I have been recommending these tests (Manhattan and GMAT CLUB) to my students because these are the tests that I feel offer the best practice exercise to the students.

However 29 in GMAT CLUB test is a very concerning score. The variation are not usually as much as I see in your score which only tells that you are not properly and equally focused in every test that you take.

Manhattan Test score of 46 in Quant with consistency is a fair prediction of an expected score of 49-50 in actual GMAT exam in quant.

I hope this helps!!! In case any other doubts, please feel free to contact.

Thank you very much. I have no idea what happened on the Q29 test, i felt focused and did it under the same conditions as normal. I seem to be achieving consistently lower scores on the gmatclub quant tests though. I have gotten a 47 once, but usually I'm anywhere from 35-42.

Do you guys know of any other good quant tests except for the official gmatprep? I don't like spending time on those, as they do not provide good explanations on the questions I got wrong, and therefore lose some of its purpose as a prep-tool.

A good test series for Quant is Veritas and fortunately their scoring pattern is very close to real scores so you might buy that for $19 these days.

The tests have good explanation s which may not be best but still are pretty decent.

Kaplan tests are not a good test score indicator...

For test discussion and looking into areas of improvement in short span of time you may also subscribe to one-on-one online tutoring. We provide it at very affordable rates and we always provide a free trial class to satisfy students of quality of teaching.

Please let me know in case of need.

One of our students has recently posted her test score and feedback for us on GMAT Club after having improved from Q-42 to Q-49. And there is a long list of such improvements ... Check our Google page for more reviews.

Hi MikaelD,

If you find that your quant score is not improving, you may consider doing some focused quant practice, to find and fix your remaining quant weaknesses, prior to taking any further practice exams.

For example, if you are reviewing number properties, be sure that you can practice 50 or more questions just from Number Properties: LCM, GCF, units digit patterns, divisibility, remainders, etc. The results of that practice will help you determine your weak areas within that topic. Once you find and fix your weak areas, then move on to the next quant topic.

To help diagnose your GMAT quant strengths and weaknesses, I welcome you to take my free 37-question quant diagnostic. After completing the diagnostic, you are provided with a detailed analysis of your proficiency level of all GMAT quant topics, as well as an opportunity to discuss your diagnostic results with me or another TTP instructor/coach.

Once you feel you have improved your GMAT quant and verbal knowledge, begin taking practice exams to track your overall progress. When taking practice exams you may consider taking the exams offered by GMAC, since those exams have an accurate scoring algorithm and contain retired questions from past GMAT exams.

Please keep us updated with your prep and, if you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to me directly.

Good luck!
