When it comes to purity standards in the food industry, demanding the most exacting results that the best hygiene practices can achieve is unwise. Although contemporary hygiene practices can isolate and eliminate the most minute amounts of impurities, doing so is exorbitantly expensive, with respect to the improvement achieved. Thus, it would be more reliable to set standards by accounting for all current and future risks involved than by demanding the best hygiene practices

The argument given concerning the better way to set standards assumes that

A. at present, the food industry meets the standards established by public health authorities
B. the only impurities worth gauging are introduced by the food industry
C. all of the relevant risks posed by allowing different levels of impurities can be accounted for effectively
D. preventing vast quantities of impurities from entering the food supply chain is not expensive
E. minuscule amounts of some impurities can be toxic

Non-capitalist states appear to suffer economic collapse much sooner than do capitalist states. Historians theorize that it is interventionism and destabilizing influences exercised by capitalist states that lead to non-capitalist states suffering economic collapse faster than capitalist states do. This theory is hard to verify directly, as it is difficult to pinpoint with any significant accuracy what punitive practices have been undertaken by capitalist states against non-capitalist ones. A detailed study of Cuba, a non-capitalist state, however, demonstrates that much of the economic difficulty experienced by the nation arises from sanctions and trade embargoes placed by the USA, a capitalist state. This indicates that the historians’ theory has a firm basis in reality.

In the argument given, the two boldfaced portions play which of the following roles?

A. The first describes a position opposed by the argument; the second presents evidence that undermines support for the opposed position.
B. The first describes a position opposed by the argument; the second states the argument’s main conclusion.
C. The first presents an explanatory hypothesis; the second states the argument’s main conclusion.
D. The first presents an explanatory hypothesis; the second presents evidence that supports alternative explanation.
E. The first presents an explanatory hypothesis; the second presents evidence that tends to support this hypothesis.

One potential solution to the problem of road congestion in Gainley county is to provide rail transit between major city centers lying 50 to 80 miles apart. Successfully implementing this plan would cost far less than expanding existing roads and would reduce the number of cars clogging up both roads and parking spaces.

Which of the following, if true, could proponents of the plan above most appropriately cite as a piece of evidence for the soundness of their plan?

A. Major repairs to Gainley’s intercity road network would be necessary for building an effective rail transit system.
B. A large proportion of drivers are from outside Gainley and are traveling over 100 miles to visit Gainley’s major city centers.
C. Over 60 percent of all drivers departing from rural areas of Gainley county are driving to rural destinations over 90 miles away.
D. Several new express roads are being built in areas that are currently served by rail transit systems.
E. The majority of vehicles leaving Gainley’s biggest city center heads for a destination in another major city center about 65 miles away.

Adaptive reuse is the practice of converting an existing building to serve a purpose other than its original one and is widely seen as a preferable and economical alternative to tearing down defunct buildings. Adaptive reuse is profitable, as demonstrated by the reuse programs already in operation. A city official has suggested requisitioning funds for a project that would ensure that sixty percent of all defunct buildings in the city are converted to a new purpose within ten years.

Which of the following, if true, most seriously calls into question the advisability of implementing the proposal?

A. Existing adaptive reuse programs have been voluntary, with the property owners being willing to invest heavily in the projects.
B. Many of the buildings that cannot be reused are also difficult to tear down.
C. Existing adaptive reuse programs have had recurrent difficulties in finding buyers for their buildings because many buildings are far from one another and are, therefore, unsuitable for most buyers wanting to have a presence in all areas of the city.
D. Some of the buildings that are candidates for adaptive reuse are the ones that can most easily be torn down and built over.
E. Existing adaptive reuse programs have been limited to the approximate twenty-five percent of defunct buildings that can feasibly be refurbished to match new buildings in utility and price.

B. The Mayor of Gaida has falsely claimed that statistics published regarding his city are inaccurate.
C. Financial planners do not believe that moving to Carcassa will significantly improve the net worth of the average Gaidan.

Galen: I do not think I shall take up a factory job with Agone Industries. The company is not concerned with ensuring the safety of its workers.

Arie: But, last month the company proactively agreed to adhere to the government’s latest round of worker safety requirements.

Galen: If Agone Industries has proactively agreed to adhere to safety requirements, these requirements must not be very stringent.

The biggest logical flaw in Galen’s reasoning is identified by which of the following?

A. The facts put forward by Galen do not support the claim that Agone Industries is not concerned with ensuring the safety of its workers.
B. Galen assumes without any logical basis that worker safety is the most important factor to be considered in deciding whether to accept a factory job.
C. In making the choice to not accept the factory job, Galen does not consider any issue besides worker safety.
D. Galen attacks Agone Industries on moral grounds rather than on its commitment to worker safety.
E. Galen employs circular logic, employing an unsubstantiated assertion to dismiss the validity of information that weakens his argument.

All of the electronic waste that the city of Springfield collected last year was dissolved to recover the rare metals used in the manufacture of electronics. The dissolution process produced a large amount of liquid waste, and to reduce the amount of liquid waste that will be generated this year to 70% of last year’s, the city has overhauled its electronic waste disposal policies. This year, Springfield will separate all electronic waste that can be reused, repaired, or recycled, reducing the total volume of waste to be dissolved to 70% of last year’s volume.

The city’s overhauled policies assume that

A) this year, no piece of electronic waste that could be reused, repaired, or recycled will be dissolved.
B) it will cost Springfield less than 70% what it cost last year to dispose of the liquid waste to separate reusable, repairable, or recyclable electronic waste from electronic waste to be dissolved.
C) electronic waste collected by the city will contain a larger proportion of reusable, repairable, or recyclable pieces of waste this year than it did last year.
D) this year, Springfield will not collect a larger quantity of electronic waste than it did last year.
E) the electronic waste dissolved this year will not produce more liquid waste per unit volume dissolved than the electronic waste dissolved last year did.

From 2010 to 2015, the Allendale Police Department increased the speed with which it responded to emergencies by 20 percent, while the percent growth in the department expenses was nil. The expenses saved per year by cost-cutting measures made since 2010 is now $100 million.

If the information above is correct, which of the following conclusions can properly be drawn on the basis of it?

A. It is more challenging to find new sources of funding than to institute new cost-cutting measures.
B. The amount of expenses incurred by a police department cannot be reduced unless the department workforce reduces.
C. A reduction in the workforce turnover in the police department was the reason the overall department expenses remained steady.
D. Developing unconventional sources of funding will make it possible for the Allendale Police Department to respond to emergencies even more quickly.
E. It is possible for a police department to respond to emergencies quicker without expanding its expenses.

In flightless birds, such as penguins and ostriches, the primary purpose of feathers is to preserve body heat. The feathers are effective in preserving body heat because birds are exothermic, meaning they produce their own heat. For this reason, evolutionary biologists insist that the recent discovery of fossils of prehistoric raptors, who had similar feathers, is evidence that at least some raptors were exothermic.

In the passage, the author develops the argument by

A) reaching a conclusion about an unknown phenomenon by drawing an analogy between it and a known phenomenon
B) providing a new interpretation of evidence once cited in support of an earlier hypothesis
C) putting together the theory that most completely explains several pieces of evidence that seem to oppose one another
D) theorizing about how the biological processes of today’s organisms may have developed from certain biological processes of their prehistoric ancestors
E) highlighting the differences between the environments of today’s flightless birds and those of prehistoric raptors

Sixty to sixty-five percent of cancer survivors suffered mobility limitations due to the effects of chemotherapy on their musculature. Treatments for preventing mobility limitations through the use of anabolic steroids have improved, but the proportion of cancer survivors who suffer from mobility limitations has increased.

Which of the following, if true, best reconciles the apparent discrepancy described above?

A. When cancer patients successfully complete a chemotherapy treatment, their musculature is unprepared to deal with the stress of performing normal activities.
B. Radiation therapy, a method of chemotherapy, can sometimes damage cancer patients’ musculature, but radiation can now be performed with less damage.
C. Thanks to improved medical technology, cancer patients who previously would have died, now live; however, this technology leaves them with more damaged musculatures than previous technology did, making the cancer survivors more likely to experience mobility issues.
D. The improvement of treatments aimed at preventing mobility loss due to chemotherapy has been gradual, and further investigation is still needed.
E. The mobility limitations caused by chemotherapy can be reduced by carefully controlling the application of chemotherapy drugs and providing physical therapy, but these methods cannot completely prevent the issue.

Which of the following, if true, most strongly supports the Eyre Apartments Housing Complex’s explanation of its success in retaining tenants?

A. Some tenants living in apartments move to a new building if they become bored with their current neighborhood.
B. The cost of living in Eyre Apartments is relatively low compared to other housing complexes nearby.
C. Many of Eyre Apartments’ oldest tenants had previously lived in only one other housing complex.
D. In a cooperative community environment, people avoid behaving in a way that might threaten group harmony and thus avoid mentioning to their fellow tenants any dissatisfaction they might have with their accommodations.

The GMAT is just one small part of the overall INSEAD application. With the right credentials, even a relatively lower score can still get you at least an interview call. On the other hand, without a profile that clearly demonstrates your growth progression, even a top percentile score may not necessarily catch the attention of the admissions committee.
If you consider yourself a reasonably good fit for INSEAD, that is, if you have done proper research on what “INSEAD fit” looks like and believe you can present your story well, I would say that a score of around 695 or above is a solid benchmark for an Indian male candidate.
Best wishes

Hi, I took the GMAT and scored 665. I’m planning to apply in Round 1 for the 2027 intake, primarily targeting European business schools. I have over 5 years of experience in software engineering and am aiming to pivot into marketing.

I’d appreciate any suggestions on schools that would be a good fit for my profile, as well as recommendations for platforms or resources that can help with essay writing and interview preparation. Any guidance would be very helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Before you reach the school-fit question, you may want to assess some of the following questions: a) Do you offer any language skills for a career in EU? b) Do you believe a bridge between SE and marketing is possible through an MBA alone? c) Has your due diligence helped you build a shortlist of schools? These are many more such questions need to be tackled before you converge on your shortlist of schools. Hope this gives you a good starting point. - Dee

kartickdey A balanced profile that meets the INSEAD criteria (international focus, leadership potential, ability to contribute, and academic capacity) is more important than just the GMAT score. If you meet the other factors, then for the GMAT, I would suggest keeping it above 675. The school will also evaluate your sectional scores individually, with a preference for candidates who have strong quantitative scores, as that is representative of the demographic average.

Wondering how your profile stacks up? Get a free profile evaluation and discuss a tailored MBA plan that aligns with your goals.

The single most important aspect you will be evaluated on is your career growth progression. If the same is competitive within your peer group/demographic, then your GMAT/GRE and academics come into consideration.
You also need to establish a clear connection between your past experience as a software engineer and your goals in marketing. For example, you may have worked on building customer analytics or recommendation systems and developed an interest in understanding consumer behavior, which naturally led you toward marketing or you may have collaborated closely with product and marketing teams on go-to-market strategies, sparking your interest in positioning and growth.

If you are only getting started, you need to do a lot of research on what the schools look for, along with your own deliberations, to build a strong pitch for “Why MBA.” I would say you should start with getting your profile evaluated either on this platform or one to one with someone who understands the process.

You need to reverse the question: ’Which schools are best for the post-MBA career I want to take?’ Looking backwards into your pre-MBA career while wanting to drive forward may not be a conducive approach.

I took my GMAT on March 27, and my score got released the same day. I didn’t send the free score reports within 48 hours because I genuinely thought I had more time (since scores usually take a few days to come out). Right after my exam, I had to rush back to work and travel to Bangalore due to a family emergency, so I barely had stable internet access.

Now I’ve missed the window, and sending scores to 5 schools will cost me around $175, which is honestly a lot for me right now.

My application deadline is March 31, and I’ve already mailed them requesting a 24-hour extension, but I’m really stressed.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Do they ever make exceptions? Is there anything else I can do at this point?

Would really appreciate any guidance 🙏

Hi I wanted to check if anyone has been rejected in F1 Visa interview after getting admit at T15 MBA college in recent (1 or 2 years).

I want to understand the stats if the rejections are like 1 or 2 in 1000s for T15 or is it high as 10+%?

Need urgent suggestions.

Top MBA Programs: It’s Not About a Perfect Profile
You don’t need a perfect profile to get into top B-schools.
What matters more is impact, leadership, and clarity.
1. Are you showing results and ownership?
2. Do you demonstrate leadership?
3. Can you clearly explain your goals?

These are things you can still improve in the next few months.

Hi, I’m Jenifer.
One thing I see every year is applicants feeling like their profile isn’t “ready” yet and that they’ve run out of time. But in many cases, that’s not true.

You don’t always need a year to improve your profile. With the right focus, even a few months can make a meaningful difference, whether it’s how you show leadership, the impact you highlight, or how clearly you tell your story.

I’m hosting a small session where I’ll walk through how to approach this in a practical way.

Hi, I need some help here if possible.

I have got an admit from SDA Bocconi Milan. (10% Scholarship) My Target industry post MBA is Travel and Tourism or Consulting. I want to stay in europe after MBA atleast I can payoff my loans. My expense will be upwards of 1,00,000 Euros including everything all of which I will take a loan for.
I am confused on what to pick and need some suggestions here.

Option 1. Go with Bocconi... Pro- 1. Have an admit - no more wasting time 2. Good Prestige. | Con: 1. Its Italy, Bad Job market and language barrier 2. Its a lot of money.

Option 2. I apply to a lower ranked school in a better Geography. Example - Mannheim/ESMT - Less fees, better geography but not as prestigious as bocconi

Option 3. I reject Bocconi, try to improve my score (GRE 323) and apply in sept for other better schools. ..Con - I am running a passion project where I organise group trips from europe to India.. This is not formal employment but this is how I am earning money for the past 1 year. I am not sure if this is seen something trying to cover up an employment gap.

I dont mind learning a language, but I am not keen on learning italian. French or German I was thinking, something that has a wider geographic acceptance

Hi everyone, we’re ApexMBA Admission Consultants,

We are expert MBA Admission Consultants, co-founded by two Cambridge MBA grads. Our consultants have gone through the MBA process first hand applying to top programmes across the US, UK, and Europe and receiving offers from every school, along with scholarships.

Throughout our journey helping other applicants with their applications, what we’ve seen is that most applications with extremely strong and diverse profiles often get lost in generic storytelling and a lack of a cohesive narrative.

That’s where we focus.

We support applicants with:

1. School selection and overall strategy
2. Resume overhaul that is MBA ready and impact driven
3. Essay brainstorming and structuring
4. Iterating on drafts while keeping your authentic voice

We have intentionally priced our services lower than the market because we genuinely want to help more applicants get into the programmes they deserve, not just those who can afford traditional consulting fees.

If you have questions about business school applications, feel free to post them in this thread and we’ll try our best to help.

And if you want more personalized support, you can book a call with us. All the details are on our website https://apexmba.com/.
