Hi, and thanks for writing! I see that you've posted on the Ross thread as well, so I'll just respond here. It sounds like you've had progressive experience in banking and I'm glad that you're confident in the quality of your recommendations - in your essays, make it clear why you want to transition to PE (schools always want to understand the motivation behind your goals). You have good involvement in extracurriculars as well - be sure to highlight the impact you've had on your resume. Academics are a bit weak for Stern, as the average GMAT score is around a 720 and it looks like you're expecting 20-40 points below that. I'm not familiar with the grading scale of your university (though the admissions committee certainly will be) but if you earned As in quantitative courses, that (along with MBA Math) will help. So overall, while I think Stern may be somewhat of a reach, it is not out of range for you. I hope that helps!

Hi, and sorry about the late reply! Given how competitive admission is for Indian applicants, do aim for a 740+ on the GMAT. I have seen that applicants from India who are most successful do tend to have international experience, but you have a well-rounded profile otherwise. In your application, make sure to fully explain the motivations behind your goal of consulting and present a well-rounded view of yourself - Stern greatly values that. And, definitely apply in Round 1 if feasible - I always recommend applying early to applicants from heavily represented backgrounds. Hope that helps a bit!

Ciao, and thanks for writing! How has your progression been at the investment bank? If you'll get a promotion by the time you apply, it'll improve your chances - since you are early in your career, that early marker of progression will be especially helpful. Otherwise, you might even consider waiting a year if you feel like you'll have even more professional accomplishments at your organization by then. Your GMAT score isn't far from Stern's average, but if you're able to increase it, it would be especially helpful - GMAT standards are high for Finance applicants, and for those early in their career. Very cool that you used to be a professional footballer - that definitely adds an interesting dimension to your application! Overall, aside from GMAT, you'll want to make sure that you 1. secure excellent recommendations that attest to your performance and early potential, especially vs. peers 2. explain the motivation behind your career goals in your essays and 3. fully communicate your professional and personal accomplishments in your application.
