Hi omegan3,
There are multiple aspects to your question - to a large extent it is not possible to give specific answers to your questions unless you give more details about yourself.
1) For starters, we don't know if you are a good student, or if you need significant resources to study. I've known people who've crossed 750 after about 6 weeks of study. I've also known people who struggle to cross 600 after 6 months. To a large extent - your natural abilities determine how high you can go, and once a target score is set - this also determins how long you need to prepare for. So 6 months might be excessive for some, and not enough for others.
2) If, as per your judgment, you do need 6 months to reach your target score - whatever that may be - you might just be able to squeeze in applications to classes beginning in Fall 2018. But wait, I don't know much about how many years you've worked, etc. And this is also important to determine when you should put in your application. But in short - if you have 3+ years of work experience at this point, and have reached your target score by the end of October 2017, then you are all set to put in applications for Fall 2018.
3) Finally, you talk about scholarships - I've written a blog post about
How to get an MBA scholarship here - which should answer your question.
All the best,
Karthik
Dear Karthik,
I appreciate you taking the time to respond. That's very kind of you, so thank you.
Follow up on your point 1):
I'm an average student, with average ability/intellect. I'm one of the laggards you can say
I can usually get by or do okay if by luck there's someone to guide or advise me.
You mentioned work experience. I have about 8 years of work experience.
I read your blog and found it to be quite informative; thanks for writing it.
If you feel inclined, can you provide some guidance on how to go about it if my goal is a full scholarship (regardless of rank). Since I work full time, currently I'm just focusing on Quant of GMAT.
I'm looking for some experienced direction to set me on a path.
Thank you Karthik.
