Hi
Beanz33Thanks for getting in touch. Lots of different thoughts for you. First question...how do you feel about taking the GMAT again? 710 is a good score, but your 44Q is not my favorite number. For top schools, you want to get that number up to 47.
I'm not worry about your community college experience if you can explain it. What I am worried about is what your overall GPA is once we factor the 3.06 into your UCD GPA of 3.61. So I recommend calculating our own overall GPA average and then maybe asking a school or two how you should report your GPA. Remember the average GPA of top programs is about 3.6.
My other concern is your goals. You're already in IB and you're telling b-schools that you want to continue with IB. They might feel that you can do that without them because you already have the skills and you're not looking for them to teach you anything -- rather, you perhaps just want their network so you can "level up." This is a tricky pitch and one I advise against. How about PE in technology instead? That might make more sense.
It's always hard to say what your chances are but if we assume a 710 GMAT/44Q and a 3.3-ish overall GPA, I think your chances are best at Johnson, Fuqua, Stern, and maybe Anderson. Note that Haas is a super-small program...just because of the size, I'd put that in more of a reach bucket for you given your current stats.
I hope that helps! I think you'd get a lot out of a free consult. See the link in my signature. Where it asks, "Is there a specific
mbaMission consultant with whom you have already connected," you can put my name but please say "Krista, but she told me to say I'll take the first available consultant." This is a very busy time of year and my schedule is pretty limited -- you don't need to wait for me!
