Hello Aringo,

My profile details are as follows :
Indian Male,
Age: 27
Undergrad: B.E. I.T from Goa Engineering college 75% First class with Distinction
XII 75% (Distinction) Goa Board
X 70% Goa Board
W.E. 72 months,I am working as a Module Lead-software developer (mostly on the front end) in Persistent Systems. Handled a team of two during some projects and currently working on IBM Watson.I also have some good client appreciations.

GMAT 1 : 570 Q48 V22
GMAT 2 : 640 Q49 V28 IR7/8 AWA(waiting for the score) (After a long gap i started studying in May and took my second attempt on 15th Sept.)

I am looking to apply for the following schools
1. Indiana University (Kelley)
2. Arizona State University (Carey)
3. University of Minnesota (Carlson)
4. Michigan State University (Broad)
5. Texas A&M(Mays)
6. University of Texas - Dallas

Considering my profile & low GMAT score, what are my chances for the above mentioned schools and are there any good schools to target for R1 (apart from those mentioned above) ?

Hi Akshay,

You have a good profile and only thing pulling you back is your GMAT score. With your above average no.of years of work ex you maybe able to shave off a little GMAT requirement but still it will be way above your GMAT score as you belong to an over represented group of applicants. Apart from Mays all will be dream schools for you. I may be able to suggest you some good fit schools. Please get in touch to schedule a call.

Hi Akshay,

A few perspectives for you:
  1. Persistent has a good brand for some quality work. It will be important to understand your career acceleration and achievements therein. You will really need your work to pull through. It will also be good to see how you connect the dots to your plans after MBA. A good, coherent story can help. Any onsite experience?
  2. For reasons mentioned here, we do not speculate on school selection. That said, the GMAT will be definitely a tricky thing to tackle; read here.
  3. You have not mentioned any ECs. Read here to see why they matter.
