Expected Date to Apply:
I plan on applying in Fall of 2017 for admissions in Fall of 2018
Other Areas:
I am a first generation college student.
Also, I worked two jobs (about 65 hours a week) as a full time student in college. Because of this, my GPA is a bit lower than I think it could have been if I wasn’t working so much. Should I articulate this to the admissions team?
Extracurricular:
Implement, Develop, and Advance a STEM Mentoring Robotics Program at my place of work. Currently, there are 36 female students enrolled, who are from financially underrepresented high schools.
Morale & Recreations Officer: Organized activities that improved welfare while serving on two deployments in the Middle East.
A few concerns:
Should I retake the GMAT? I feel like I could score a bit higher and break that 700 barrier. I ran into some timing issues with verbal that reduced my score. I am also concerned my quant is not high enough for top 10 schools.
I am considering taking Calculus courses at UPENN over the summer to compensate for the lower quant score. Is this worth pursuing?
I want the strongest application possible. I feel like I come from a unique background (military, first generation college student, rural Midwest), but I do not know how to articulate my background very well. Further, I would like to tighten other areas of my application if possible. Any help with these concerns would be much appreciated.
