Hello everyone and congratulations to all the successful candidates who got the acceptance letter!

I received an acceptance email for the 2017 Jan intake and look forward to connecting with prospective candidates.

Just to give a quick background about myself, I have seven years of experience as a satellite communications specialist. In my capacity as Assistant Manager in the International Division, I have worked on 15 international assignments covering a plethora of services and a wide spectrum of technologies. I am now keen to make a transition to the field of consulting and align myself with the Telecommunication, Media and Technology (TMT) division there.

I had quite an engaging conversation with Mr. Shai Dubey in February and it never felt like an interview at all.

Hi,

Thanks.

Hi everyone,

I am aiming to apply by the end of this July. I am in need of some advise regarding pursing Queen's MBA. I am a "non-profit" professional looking to switch to "for-profit" sectors after MBA. I am hearing that a 12 months program instead of a 20 months program is not beneficial for career switchers like me. What's your take on this? Also, what are my chances of getting into Queen's program. Here is a summary of my profile:

Location: Bangladesh
Work Experience: 5+ years at a non-profit consultancy firm, designing inclusive business models with private companies to improve 2 agricultural value chains.
GRE 1: 308 (Q158, V150), prearing for GRE 2, aiming for 320
CGPA: 3.20 out of 4 (Marketing and Finance)
Extracurricular activities in college: led the cultural club activities in college, won 2 business case competitions.
Other activities: Implementing various community development projects for the underprivileged in urban slums through a pro-bono community development organization.
Future Goals: Switch to "for-profit" from "non-profit" consultancy.

Looking forward hear from you guys.

Hello Everybody :)

I found out about Queens recently and I fell in love with the curriculum! I have started my application and am hoping to complete it in the coming few weeks. I have a query and any help would be much appreciated. My first and second referees are my manager and my colleague respectively and now I'm lost with whom I should select as my 3rd referee. Any advice?

Congratulations to the admits and my best wishes to my fellow applicants! :)

Hi,

3rd can be someone .. at your level or someone who reported you. It will give a feedback from someone, who worked with you in team at same level.

Post your queries here, People here are helpful to resolve any queries.

Best luck for the process :)

I am doing my MBA at queens right now and i can help with questions you have.
let me say there is no min requirement for gmat and your score doesnt have to be 700+ for an admit. if you are at 670-680 you should have a decent chance at an admit provided you have a well rounded profile. 720+ will increase your scholarship amount by 10k or so.
MBA+MMA is an excellent program and i know one person from last years batch who did it and is now working at IBM in Toronto. He got job 5-6 offers. In our bath we have 3 people who are doing it and i believe you do get a decent discount and the total fees add upto 120k less scholarship(nos might have changed).

There are truly only 3 top programs in canada which include queens, rotman and ivey. Queens and Ivey are excellent for a 1 yr program but if you do want to switch careers rotman would be a good option as you could do a summer internship which helps.

Received a mail from my application advisor last night and she said that the school has reached its enrollment capacity and that going forward admissions will be done on a wait list basis where the most competitive of the students will be offered an admission!

It's tough to believe that we are in the middle of R2 and enrollment capacity has already been reached..

the batch size is small and the school recently got 50 million which would be used for giving out higher scholarships and attracting better faculty. Hence it could be possible that the school has filled up 50-60% of the quota and now only wants students with a 700+ gmat and a unique background. They are doing some pretty good things and hence i would recommend sticking and following up with queens on a regular basis if you are waitlisted.

Thank you for the heads up buddy :-D It's good to know that Queens is trying to improve!!

But it's a little demotivating to know that my chances have fallen down to a waitlist already even before applying. Even if my application is really strong my only chance of getting an admit is if incoming students withdraw their admissions..

Hey, being a current student, could you share your profile with us ,if you don't mind, and also your experience over the last 3 months :-D
