Hej folks!

For those who applied to the MBM, did anyone also apply for the K-A Bonnier Fellows Program?

I'm looking for companions :)

It looks like a programme for Nordic and Southeast Asian students. Are you Nordic or Southeast Asian? Also, what's good about it compared to the MBM?

Hi folks!

I just applied for the MSc in Finance (regular, later deadline) at SSE and I have been reading through the posts in this thread. I can tell that competition will indeed be super intense, based on the profiles some of you posted here - just as expected.

Last year's Finance class was made of 92 people. Does anyone have a rough idea of how many places may still be available now that the early application round is over?
Also, has any of you applied to SSE more than once and eventually got admitted? This is my first time, since I did not hold a GMAT score last year.

Hi guys,

Just reading through your profiles, I am fairly impressed with the dedication and efforts all of you put into your studies. This should make for a great class of 2017/2019!

Anyway, so I have applied to the M.Sc. in Finance/ IM track (Jan 15th deadline) with the following profile:
- 2 bachelor degrees (Economics & Business Administration) from non-target EMU unis (GPA: ~3.3/4.0)
- Passed CFA Level 1
- GRE: 163 (quant only)
- Toefl: not released yet, but was aiming for 110+
- University tutor for 3rd semester students & head of fixed income at the uni's investment club
- 4 markets internships (incl. 1x London & 1x New York), 3 months each
- 1x reference from my MD in London
- 1.5 years as an assistant portfolio manager at the worlds' largest reinsurance company

As the first admission round's results are already available, I am thrilled to learn more about the program's admission criteria.

oneteam, Banterbury, drupat, ylime23, JosephKnecht, would you mind sharing your profile so we can better assess our chances? Btw, Congrats for getting an offer!

@the_ones whose application status is (also) still pending: To which other universities have you applied, i.e. what does your backup look like?

See you folks in Stockholm, hopefully!

I might share my profile as well. I applied for the IM concentration of the MSc in Finance (15 Dec deadline).

- BSc in Economics & Finance at a major public university in Italy
- GPA is not the highest: 24.5/30, which translates roughly into a "C" on an A-to-E scale. Final grade: 96/110 ("B". Again, this is the biggest weakness in my application)
- Ielts 8 (lowest score 7.5 Speaking)
- B1 in German from Goethe Institut
- GMAT 690 (45Q, 39V)
- 2-month internship in Wealth Management at leading Italian firm
- summer internship at renowned Software Developement company
- two references from former employers from both internships

Should I not be admitted, I have a few other choices around Europe. Will definitely apply to a couple different universities in Lisbon.

Hello everyone.

Just a question to some of the folks who posted recently.

How are you saying you applied to the Investment Management path of the programme? As far as I know you are only allowed to choose the MSc Finance and that's it.

Did I skip some part? Thanks

I just received an email from SSE regarding my application! But I am way too scared to open it (I know, it's stupid).

If you applied for MIB, it might be an invitation to the assessment center.

Or you could have left some documents out and they might be requesting for them.

Dear all,

Obviously I had to open the email and I got declined. Irregardless of the GMAT score.
I did indeed apply to the MIB instead of Finance, sorry for that.
The rejection was based on motivation, GPA and international experience.
For your information, this is my quite elaborated profile with CV (I left out the interest and skills haha! ;) ) Honestly, I was a little surprised I did not even make it through the first screening. But hey, competition is tough! ;)

Good luck to all of you! You have outstanding profiles and I'm sure that, with such perseverance and dedication, all of you will accomplish great things; whether it will be with a degree from SSE or without.

- Nationality: Dutch
- Age: 23
- GPA 3.7
- IELTS 8.5/9.0
- languages: Dutch, English, Spanish (Fluent), Italian (intermediate), German (intermediate), French (Intermediate)
- 4 months of voluntary work in India
- 1 month Exchange to Singapore (high school)
- 6 months Exchange to Buenos Aires (university)
- 5 months of ski teaching in Canada
- Summer school in London at CSM
- 12 months Head of Marketing and Communications at a department of Student Services at the University of Amsterdam
- 6 months Committee member at Student Services UvA
- 6 months Internship at an international media production company
- Initiator in a Study motivation programme that grew to a network covering all universities and high schools in the south of the Netherlands

remaining:
- Top sports in the national competition in field hockey for 5 years
- Statistics tutor
- Volunteer in several regional projects

Actually, you are right. I am guessing that selected applicants will be presented with a chance to choose between the two concentrations of the MSc in Finance at a later stage, once they are admitted.

However, I still mentioned that I am interested in the IM path in my motivation statement.

Good luck to all of us!

Such a pity! Your profile seems very strong and it is odd that they gave you such a justification for the rejection. But I guess competiotion is stronger this year than ever in all graduate programs. I strongly suggest that you consider applying to other top business schools around Europe, for you really are a high-level candidate and you may find a better chance of admission somewhere else.
All the best!
