Hi rohitsood43,

Most Test Takers use a variety of study materials as they prepare for the GMAT. While there's likely no 'harm' in using slightly older books, you will likely end up needing MORE than just those materials to hit your Goal Score. Before I can offer you any additional advice, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for each)?

Goals:
3) What is your goal score?
4) What is your exact Test Date?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
6) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi guys, I am preparing to give my GMAT in May 2018, but I am preparing from Manhattan GMAT Strategy guides Fifth edition which was released in April 2012. Is it ok to study from these guides or has the syllabus or GMAT exam format drastically changed from 2012 onwards ? Any help on this will be much appreciated. Thank you so much :)

Hi rohitsood43,

With each edition the guides have only gotten better. Yes there have been some drastic changes especially in the Sentence Correction, Reading comprehension and Number Properties guides in that they have introduced some new strategies and added some new concepts which are very helpful. If you are on a budget, you can purchase the aforementioned guides. If, however, you do not mind spending, go with the new guides and you will not be disappointed. Plus you will get access to all 6 MGMAT tests and online question bank with each guide, which is great. To complement your guides, I would also encourage you to purchase the latest version of OG and Quant and verbal review for some great additional practice.

Hope this helps. All the best.

Hi All,

I have the PDF of Manhattan guides 4th edition an the hard copies of 6th edition. There is a lot of change in math guides as i the content seems more in old editions with more questions on Advanced topics. Which is advisable to follow as I need to score Quant more than 49

Please help!

Hi rohitsood43,

As many have mentioned, you should not have any problems using a book from 2012. Are you just starting out with your GMAT prep? What is your score goal? Have you taken a practice exam to get a baseline score?

You may find it helpful to read this article about how to score a 700+ on the GMAT.

hello guys I need real help, I also found the 2012 versions for free online and I can't afford the new ones, will it be enough? as we r in 2022.
also, I have the GMAT 2020 guide and I don't want to buy 2022 one. is this wise?
I am planning to purchase gmats official practice questions 1 and 2, as well as one of either 3 and 4, practice tests or 6 and 5.

hellppp as my exam is in a month and I have a score of 350... seems unreasonable but I know I can do it with the right plan
appreciate any tips.

Hi. You can use it. Many have used books back then and they worked. I would say that as you look to benefit from someone’s hard work of putting the material together to teach GMAT and create these Manhattan prep guides, consider supporting such efforts. Otherwise what is the point of anyone spending their time only for someone to claim they are poor while pursuing anMBA degree and taking an exam that costs $275 plus tax. Be a responsible and contributing member of the society 🙏😇
