I can definitely endorse and speak to the responsiveness of Kellogg club officers to prospective student emails. They are extremely helpful and willing to hop on a call once a mutual time can be found.

After the evaluative call they connected me with a current student to talk to. I emailed the student with some thanks/formalities and times available. If they don't respond is it worth talking with the AdCom who set it up if there is someone else I can connect with since I did say I was interested in talking with current students?

I know for some people it is in the midst of the recruiting cycle (among the normal craziness of school) so I don't want to be rude and distract them, cause I'd be the first to agree that all those things are way more important than chatting with me, but I also don't want to seem like I am not putting in sufficient effort on connecting.

Follow up with the student at least once and then feel free to ask for another referral. If you don’t get a response you can look at the officers listed on some of the professional clubs that you’re interested in and contact those people. They are used to having students contact them so they should be pretty responsive.

I got the email confirmation for the Interview, including the date - then today I got another email that asks me to schedule the interview. Should I consider it a mistake or should I go ahead and choose the date since the link seems available for 48h?

Was this for an on campus interview? Could be a system glich I would just email the admissions email and ask if they can confirm that your interview date was saved.

Usually the waiver emails come out all at once on the Wednesday of week 6. Interview invites continue to come out up until and after that point as well so hang tight.

Bad. Everyone admitted gets an interview.

It is not good, but it is hard to say if it is bad or neutral. There are waived candidates that get interviews later in the cycle every year, I will say though that it is not a common occurrence and I think it is more common for international students to get these post waiver interviews (mostly because most waivers are given to international students due to the lack of alumni in the area)

Thank you!

I haven’t heard from Kellogg as yet; I’m considering writing to let them know that I’m willing to travel to another city in case an interview in the city I chose is unavailable.

Do you think I should do this?

I am not sure that this is a good idea but I also don't want to absolutely say no either. If you are an international student, it is most likely that the alumni in those cities will have their interviews filled with people who live within those cities because there are a lot more applicants than there are alums for most international locations. This may work for a domestic student who is not in a major city however because there are a lot more alumni in the US.

The downside here is obviously that you call them and you come off as an annoyance or not very self aware, and pretty self absorbed(not a good Kellogg culture fit) because they have thousands of applicants to sort through for interview invites many of which live in the major cities you are referencing and you are essentially asking them to make an exception for you over people who are actually located in the city.

So I would lean towards no, it is a risky move. The exception would be if you knew you were traveling to one of the cities for work or vacation already and you want to ask if you can be connected while you are there, and I think this would only fly if you were going to be there for a significant period of time (like 2+ weeks).

So, I think overall I would not do this. If you really feel like taking the risk (but again not recommended) I would wait at least until early next week, just before the 6 week mark, and instead of saying you will travel for an interview just say you have not received an assignment yet, that Kellogg is your top choice school, you're disappointed that you weren't able to travel to campus for interviews but you are really looking forward to interviewing soon if possible, or similar.

Thank you so much for this clear note! Really appreciate it. I’m going to hold off on the email for now. Thanks again!

Hi!,

I was matched with an alumni in India by week 2 Jan for the interviews. But the interviewer was out of town and very busy and could not take my interview.
I've now received an invitation to interview with a member of the adcom.

How does an Almuni face to face interview differ from an adcom skype interview in terms of difficulty, chances of clearing etc?
Also should I prep differently for the adcom interview?

Regards
Harvey

It doesn’t. They work very hard to be calibrated on interviews. The only special prep I would do is to practice interviewing on Skype. Some people don’t come off well on video. So have a friend interview you over Skype for practice.
