Hi ,
I just wrote the GMAT . My score was 690 ( quant 40 , verbal 44 ) .
Work experience : 2.5 years in Infosys .
I am not too happy with the score. I am targeting colleges outside the US . mostly the Asia Pacific region . Hong Kong , Singapore India etc. Do i have a chance of getting an admit in colleges such as HKUST , SMU , NUS etc or should i retake the exam ?
Also are there any scholarship opportunities for these mentioned colleges ? Kindly advise.

Thanks and Regards,
Bharath N

Hey bharath.

Good score. fabulous verbal score. Quite OK in quant. this could hurt you.

I would suggest retake. If you can hit a more balanced score. you should be good.

your experience is a bit on the short side. If you can bring up stories about leadership and diversity, then that can be handled.

Scholarships: normally each school has a good set of scholarships. 20-30 of them. or even more. some are merit-based some are need-based and so on. there would be at least 4-5 which can apply too. so, don't too much on this just yet. and if the scholarship is a deal-breaker for you, then apply in R1.

I'd focus on how your score compares to the average scores of admitted students at your goal schools. If it stacks up favorably, you're fine - and it probably will, since 690 is excellent and your V score is really impressive!

Thanks for sharing.

If you are unhappy with it, and believe you have a very good chance of doing better, then it is a good idea to retake. The chances of gaining admissions would vary from school to school, so research on your target programs to know their average scores and profiles.

All the best!

Hi Bharath

Your score is not outstanding, but it could still be good enough for you to consider applying to schools such as SMU, CUHK, HKU, and, with strong applications, to even HKUST and CEIBS. Dont think NUS would be a good choice. Scholarships at HKUST are going to be doubtful too. At others, you may have some chance of scholarship.

A lot depends on your work experience so far though. What exactly has been your domain of work at Infosys? Do you have awards? Any onsite experience to show?
