Thanks for this fair Nikhil, Really appreciate it. :) I just have 3 questions regarding this below highlighted statement:
Nikhil
REGISTER for the MBA Spotlight Fair AND Attend live Zoom or YouTube session where you will receive a link to participate in the Prize drawing.

1) When I click the Join button, it only takes me to the Zoom session. Where do I find the youtube session link for the same?
2) Are all fairs going to be on both zoom and youtube or only some?
3) Is turning on the camera mandatory or we can attend without turning on our camera as well?

Thanks

Good questions!!!
We need to update some descriptions to make sure we don’t miss lead anyone 😇

1. There’s only one link for each session. Some are done on zoom. These are events with admissions committee’s from business schools.

Events on YouTube are going to be panels as well as special interesting sessions. These will not be admissions teams and YouTube will actually not have any prizes. At least we have not done prizes for the YouTube sessions in the last few years so I think this tradition will hold. This is because Apsley waivers and other goodies are usually only applicable for the zoom sessions.

2. I think I kind of answered your first question and second question together. Most of the events will be on zoom but in parallel some of the sessions will be held on YouTube. Will make it much clearer on the day of the event 😇

3. You can attend with over that with the camera but if you would like to qualify for the app fee waiver, you need to have your camera on to so to speak show up 😂. We’ve had a number of events where majority of people or 99% of the people had the cameras off and that’s fine but that’s very unengaging for admissions so they asked us to see if we could encourage as many people as we could to have the cameras on. You don’t really have to keep it on the whole time either. But once you turn it on, one of the moderators will DM you with a link for Apsley waivers or GMAT Club Tests or form quiz 😇

Hope this is clear. Let me know if any questions or suggestions 😇

Oh my god man!!! :P So this is sorta equivalent of an interview IMO. :P They get the benefit of filtering out multiple candidates at the same time, I mean, if they greylist/blacklist you here, even if you apply later on, you don't have much of a chance whereas if you are whitelisted here, you wouldn't necessarily stand to gain as much so pretty risky. :( "BUT!", on the other hand, those with good personalities would now be able to show themselves and impress the adcoms beforehand whereas with the regular app route, the adcoms don't actually get to know you all that well before you get to the interview phase, even in the interview phase, they are nowadays using bots so you wouldn't get to meet the adcoms at all, so this is your only shot to actually have a face to face with the adcoms.
I think if you don't have your college applications prepared or atleast strategized, attending this would be highly risky as the adcoms would compare you with the well polished and well prepared candidates who apply through the regular route so the chances of you bombing this and then getting grey or blacklisted would be pretty high.
Any thoughts? Am I right in my logic? or flatout wrong and way off? :P

A few more quick questions:
1) what sort of questions would adcoms ask? Would they ask for my resume, etc? Would they remember me for later?
2) You said "admissions committee" but the description of each event only names the heads of these committees? Is it only going to be 1 person or will the whole adcom be there? :)

Thanks :)

You don’t need to worry about being drilled and asked questions 😉

The Adcom is there to answer your questions and also for you to have a chance to net work with them and show your interest in the program and commitment to attend.

I don’t know exactly how many people will join but I can tell you for some programs such as Harvard, you’ll probably have hundreds of people joining the zoom session while for others such as UC Riverside you’ll probably have a small cozy group where you can ask a lot more questions and get to know the admissions in a more relaxed setting.

So a good idea is to get some questions and think about which programs you may be interested in.

I see, so I was pretty far off. :P

Well, I do have a good personality(I think.:P) so I was sorta planning on hashing out my application strategy and polishing myself for this, just to have them remember me for when I apply to their schools. :P
Prior to this, I was sorta not bothered with schools at all. I just wanted to get a good GMAT score first and then figure out everything else later. :P
Do you think that it would be worth it to invest the time to hash out my application strategy and polish myself for this event? I mean, would it improve my chances of these adcoms remembering me?
Diana Economy(whom I admire a lot) says in the video link you shared that there are hundreds of such fairs in a given year so If I were to stick to my current strategy, which is to not pay attention to anything else until I have the GMAT cracked, I could still attend those other fairs after I have my score in hand? What do you think?
PS: By polishing, I don't mean putting on a lipstick and makeup, etc. lol :P I mean preparing for the event and going in with a pre-planned strategy on what you want out of it, etc. :)

Hi sampathgelam
It is your default GMAT Club Forum Time Zone.
So whatever you set it up as, it will show your local time zone.

One easy way to check - the first event on Tue June 13th stats at 6 AM PST US Pacific Time for me.

P.S. If you need to change your time zone, you can set it here:

Hi TheUltimateWinner - it really depends on your time zone.
For me it is afternoon of June 14th. If you are in Asia (as I suspect), it would likely spill out in June 15. This year, we have scheduled one day convenient for the Asia/Europe and Another day convenient for Europe/US.

P.S. Thank you for the screenshots! Appreciate it as I don't get to see how it looks in other regions.

APP FEE WAIVERS

Hi Everyone!

If you got an App Fee Waiver for Attending or Participating in a session, I have contacted you and sent you a Private Message. Visit your mailbox on GMAT Club. Please make sure to read the instructions. Some have a promo code (McDonough and Mendoza) while others such as Fuqua, Tepper, Tuck, and Emory will contact you directly within the next 1-2 weeks. I want to warn ahead that the 1-2 weeks sometimes turn into 1-2 months, so use this topic to check on status and inquire with other attendees if they got an app fee waiver. Usually it gets into your spam so keep an eye out!

P.S. You will receive an app fee waiver to the Email that you put in during registration! This is important. We are not sharing your GMAT Club information but only the email that you put into the MBA Spotlight Registration system.

Hope to see you tomorrow in the afternoon, US Time.

Hi BB
Thanx for the information. I got your message regarding the fee waiver. My email on GMAT Club is different from my GMAC email ID. While applying to the school, will I need to use the GMAT Club mail ID to be eligible for the waiver ?

Hi. Congrats on getting a waiver!

1. The instructions will depend on the school specifically. So I cannot say a blanket statement and moreover, I don't know what the instructions are so I could not answer even if I knew which school you are referring to.
2. Your GMAC email ID should not matter in applications
3. You should wait for instructions from school.

I heard back from Tepper about App Fee Waivers:

Hello all,

We sent an email to the participants in the first week of July--the message informed them that the fee waiver would be automatically applied when they apply for admission using the same email address that they used for the program.

I have heard back from Fuqua that they are still working on sending out the app fee waivers.
The process required them to start the new application season and then import everyone into the system. I would expect another 1-2 weeks until the email. Hopefully faster. 😇
