Ugh, this sucks. I was fixated on Rotman and staying within Canada, but was just offered a $90,000 to go to an American school which can't be ignored.

Sounds like you've got some introspection ahead of you. I don't know what else to make of your post. :-)

No, but I had a close relationship with my Admissions Director. I had a welcome package literally within 2 business days.

Hi guys,

I'm an Indian R3 admit, with no scholarship. Any other Indian brave-heart in the same shoes who's worked out the funding?

Hey guys,

Great to see how involved you are and your eagerness to join Rotman. Just a friendly reminder that the Recruitment & Admissions team is your best source of info on the admission process, financial aid, etc.

We are a very responsive and approachable bunch so if you have questions, the best way to get them answered is to email us. :-) –Either by getting in touch with the member of the Recruitment & Admissions team you have been in contact with so far or by emailing mba@rotman.utoronto.ca.

I know you might be hesitant about emailing an inbox that isn’t attached to an actual person’s name (such as is the case with mba@rotman.utoronto.ca) but I can promise you, we are very responsive when it comes to emails. We won’t leave you hanging! :-)

Congrats. What was the deciding factor in accepting Rotman and turning down $90K?

Ultimately it came down to a lack of confidence in the careers centre at the other school. While it was strong in certain areas, it didn't offer the exposure to the industries I wanted to be in. That, combined with the challenges of being an international in the United States who would need to be sponsored, the decision was pretty easy to come to.

Also, 90k amortized over the duration of my career, isn't really worth it if it doesn't land me the job I want in the place I want to be in.

Hi All! Just wanted to share my story for a bit of inspo for those waiting on a decision. Submitted application on the 9th of April, interviewed on the 14th and Decision on the 30th with Fellowship and Scholarship. 16 days...The wait was excruciating. Hang in there - there's not a person on this forum who doesn't seem like they'd be a great addition to the school.

Stats:
680 GMAT
3.4 (Last year Undergraduate GPA; 3.2 Overall)
3.9 GPA Graduate Degree
2 Years Work Experience, Media - Project/Portfolio Management
International Experience (Canadian, working in London UK)

Happy to provide any insight I can on application process/essays/etc.

Re: Calling all applicants - Rotman Class of 2017 [#permalink]
AbhinavMehrotra, that's pretty epic work experience, so props on that. regarding the 2.5 GPA, as far as i know for admission, the "typical" minimum is a 3.0 in final year. and also, as far as i know, that's "typical", and ergo not a hard minimum. you've got great work experience, an awesome GMAT (not many in my year have 750s, probably less than 10). just make sure you've got great stories for your essays. you've already mentioned the reason why your GPA is low, all those side projects you did. make sure you highlight that, and make sure those side projects were impactful, not only for you but for your clients too.

now if you don't have a 3.0 GPA in the final year, that's a different story. you might have to confirm with admissions on that.

again, this is from my experience through admissions, from what i saw in first year. these are my thoughts and opinions so please don't quote me on this. you should ask admissions to make sure if you're worried.

good luck!

edit: just realized i didn't really answer your question. is the 2.5 GPA surmountable? maybe. but if i'm going to be honest, i have to say the chances are not great. you really have to sell yourself.

ps. is your username your real name?
