I was waitlisted in early round and got the interview invite today. So don’t lose hope guys!
That’s awesome, congrats! Comes as a motivation to me - did you do anything between EA and R1 to improve your chances?

Didn’t receive the invite, but it says this is not the final decision and has this in the end
"While we do require a completed interview for admission, it is possible that you would be invited to interview later in this round or in a following round. If your interview status should change, our office will notify you directly via email."
Received the same.

Waitlisted in the EA round - haven't received any intimation today. Should we be expecting any communication on today's deadline?

I am in shock. It said ’The interview invitation process is highly selective, and we regret to inform you that you have not been invited to interview. Please note that this is not a final decision on your application’. With a 740 and 5.5years work ex by next year in non-coding background, I was atleast expecting an interview invite.

Thank you. No, I haven’t shared any updates yet. Although, I did attend the waitlist webinar yesterday and there they mentioned that some waitlisted candidates from EA will get invites with R1 candidates.

I guess they are looking at more of a culture fit - I see that duke focuses on this more than any other school - I am guessing this must be a huge factor in selection

One of the Alums asked me to be more humble in the application and it is very important

I mean I got the duke invite and dinged at Wharton without even an interview (still shocked and confused)...

You definitely got the better deal, I’d trade spots as much as I love Duke community feel and sustainability work

Talking to Duke alums and students, it’s definitely a more community feel and one where they truly want to see the real you, not being salty but Wharton’s body felt a bit more cut throat and competitive rather than collaborative, though there’s no doubt they have a very high quality group with exceptional experiences.

Just maybe a difference in the attributes both look for?

This was my analysis after getting dinged by booth and HBS

If you look at their essays and even Wharton essay as well - they’re more focused on what will you do at the University and how will you contribute. They don’t really care about your story. Seems like they’re shifting towards hard metrics like GMAT, GPA, brands etc rather than qualitative aspects

Compared to Duke or LBS. You can see from their essays that they really want to know the real you

I agree with you. Duke wants to know you! Wharton and Booth want the assurance that you want them, why you want them and how you will give back to them
