I'm in at Goizueta. Got the email around 9:30 am this morning. Application status change is up on site as well. For those of you who applied through the Consortium like I did, scholarship decisions will not be released until March/April.
This shouldn't be right. I know that individual schools can give scholarships prior to the official "Consortium Fellowship" selection dates early next year. It is common among the Consortium schools to send out scholarships at admission and then bump it up if you get the fellowship. I've even heard that if the school is your #1 pick then they will likely either offer the fellowship with admission or not offer it at all.
Anyway you look at it, I don't believe this is right and if it is right then it makes no sense. Lots of Consortium applicants are applying to schools outside the network (albeit, "reach schools") and those schools will not hesitate in awarding scholarships right at admission, if merited.
Again, take my situation. If I get word from Chicago or Wharton in the next two weeks that I got admitted with scholarship, it gives them an edge over a school that only admitted me and is keeping me in limbo about a scholarship. Puts them in a worse situation with regard to selection, especially amongst more competitive candidates.
This was communicated to me as well so it's right Haha For me personally, my application strategy centered around the March fellowship decision time frame. It's not uncommon for Consortium schools to not release fellowship decisions until March so (when reasonable) I applied to my non-Consortium schools for their rounds that accommodated that timeline. Everyone's situation is different and I think we've all gone through the different scenarios within our heads
