250 words is the additional info. Did you guys check out the sample stories? I found them useful. I do think though that the song essay was somewhat similar to this so I may take some inspiration for last year.

Bummer on the goals essay though :(

Lol sample stories don't make sense at all. I guess just use song essay and pick the best line of song as your six word story.

I agree! Without context the sample stories don't make much sense. And while I am coming up with my six word story I am having problems forgetting the lyrics of my song. :lol: :lol:

Hi -

I had applied to a few schools last year and got interview calls from most but did not get any admits. A consultant is good to have but not necessary. Many of my friends got into Top10 schools without hiring one. I had hired one fro one schools application only just to understand the overall application process and the approach to writing good essays. My 2 cents on admission consultant

1. High price does not always mean best service
2. Talk to a few consultants and get their thoughts on your profile and how they can help you? Ask specific questions around the issues he/she sees in your profile, goals etc
3. If a consultant is pushing you to apply to only lower ranked schools, walk away from them. They are simply trying to keep their record intact. Good consultants should encourage you to apply to a wide array of schools.
4. I think the most important thing is whether you feel comfortable sharing your life with him/her the way you have never done with anyone.
5. Go with someone who has some experience with advising applicants.
6. Do not expect the consultant to write essays for you or weave magic wand to get you into your dream school. If you submit bad essays for him to review, you will get an improved version of the bad essay but not good essays. All in all, a consultant just shows you the path. Ultimately it's you who would be doing the work.

Hey there , if there are applicants getting into Top 10 . How did they do so?
I come from India , the application consultant scene is not great. No one is as reliable as the consultants in the US or abroad. The Money charged by consultants abroad almost 8 times than what is charged here in India. So i'm thinking of applying all by myself in R1 and if i don't make it , might as well try my luck with someone in R2

4)That's what i felt about one consultant and i might approach them for hourly services if its economical
5) Point taken
6) I understand

Do you suggest any consultant? Even if it is a free consultation

I was at the Haas tell-all webinar yesterday. It was mostly topics we knew but they definitely reiterated the importance of their defining principles. Also a lot of thoughts on the new essays. Was anybody there?

Also I will be happy to post my last year's experience at Haas in a few mins. But I really hope to get in this year.

Great that you posted the screen shot of their SIX Letter Essay, this is something very new, and I liked the way how they came up with this idea. (They shared this on webinar)

Hi Souvik, nice to meet you, I'm reapplying this year! My first application was 2015, dinged w/o interview, bummer.

This year I'm bringing new ammo on the table; new job more related to ST goal (I work as PM in FinTech company based in Indonesia), promotions, extra class on business stats, extracurricular activity (organizing startup events), stronger recommendation letter, and a burning desire to cuddle with that bear statue in front of Haas as a Haasies.

So the application went live today and I have just been filling out the basic information and I have discovered that they actually ask you what other schools you are applying to and how many other programs you are applying to? The schools you can chose from are lower ranked programs..Tepper is the only one in their list that I am applying to...however the how many programs question makes me a bit nervous...I am applying to a lot because of my low GPA..I have read in previous forums that Haas will frequently ask about what other programs your applying to in interviews...mostly because they tend to be the west coast back up to Stanford...will it look bad to put a high number of other programs?

don't know if this will help people, but I follow this instagram account @6wordsmith and i think they're posts adhere pretty well to the original 6 word story from ernest hemingway and might help with inspiration?

Hello!

I have close to a decade of work experience in the Bay Area with specilization in the computer networking industry.

Ex-Cisco, Ex-Facebook and I am currently working at a cloud-only billion-dollar unicorn cybersecurity company, Zscaler.

I have broached this idea to my boss but I don't have his approval yet, but fingers crossed he approves.

Submitted my app for Round 1 yesterday....I am actually not sure how I feel about this one...I am not sure if it was me or just the set up of the app but I feel like the other apps I have submitted gave me a much better opportunity to get across my personal brand. It could also be because I had answered similar essay questions in my other apps and so I didn't need to spend as much time on this one but IDK....I guess we will see how it works out because its done now.

Haas is super concise in its apps this year. Last year in their goals question they had 250 words for a background/preparedness bit which they skipped this year.

That being said, your school choices look like mine's mirror image. I'm not stalking I promise.
