Hello Folks,

Is TOEFL required for Indian applicant whose undergraduate medium was English ?

Looking for a response. Please !

Thanks

No, they consider India with English as official language. So if your undergrad is from English speaking institute, TOEFL/IELTS is not required.

Thanks Gaurav !

I am applying in round 2.

There are two components in the application : one is electronic and another is submission of hard copy of GMAT score and transcripts through post.

Did I understand the procedure correctly ?

I am in doubt. Plz plz help !

Thanks

My understanding is that official transcripts only need to be submitted if you are admitted and accept the offer. For purposes of the application, an electronic copy attached to your application is sufficient.

You will self-report GMAT scores in the application itself, but official scores should be sent to Vandy from the testing center prior to the application deadline.

If anyone else has a different understanding, please clarify. Thanks!

My understanding is the same. I sent my official GMAT scores prior to the app deadline, but am only just now sending in my official college transcripts.

My understanding is little different.

We need to send the official test scores through the post as evident from below lines. I doubt that reporting the scores in the application will do, and I have sent the scores through the post.

'You must self-report your official GMAT or GRE test score with your application and submit the official test score to Vanderbilt University in order for your application to be complete and your admission to be considered. Send scores to Center for Data Management, Vanderbilt University, PMB 407833, 2301 Vanderbilt Place, Nashville, TN 37240-7833. '

Hi
I am planning to apply in round 2. Was just wondering how much amount do we need to show under the financial declaration section of the application. And how much of it should be personal/other sources of funds

Would anyone have any idea whether applications submitted for Round 3 (March 1 Deadline) are considered for scholarship automatically?

No matter when you apply to Owen (whether it is during the regular admissions rounds or during the rolling admissions phase later on) your application will be considered for scholarship money. Good luck!

Is there any leeway in recs being submitted, or do they need to be in by tomorrow at app deadline?

Hello everyone!

I was pretty nervous after going through some of the posts in last year's thread about interview experiences (lots of problems with connections, very short interviews, interviewers that were not interested at all...), but I have to say that this was one of the best interview experiences of my life.

The (not blind) interview lasted for about 35 mins and it was very conversational. The first question was NOT walk me through your resume, but why do you want an MBA. Then some of the following questions were:

ST goals
A question related to one of my essays
If you have 60 seconds to present yourself to a potential employer, what would you say?
How would your supervisors describe you?
Strengths and weaknesses
Why Owen
How would you contribute to the Owen community
More personal questions
Do you have any questions for me

Throughout the interview, we talked extensively about Owen, its community (students, faculty...), Nashville, financial aid and the CMC.

I think it went well and, after this interview, I couldn't have a better impression of Owen. I'm really looking forward to hearing back from them! The waiting is going to be excruciating!

Good luck to those of you who are still waiting for your interviews! :)

kheown

Hello everybody,

I applied in round 2 in December, received an interview invitation two weeks later and had my interview last Friday.

Bailey McChesney interviewed me and she was super nice. She asked me the same questions Kheown mentioned and gave some short feedback after my answers, such as "good", " very good" and "great".

It was a dynamic and good conversation. I really enjoyed it.

Best of luck to everyone! :-D

My recommenders were not receiving the mail from Vanderbilt. May be servers were blocking the mail.

I have written to them about the problem and got the reply as

" I have resent both recommenders links directly from my email address in order to bypass the firewall issues. They should both receive them within 5 minutes. Please confirm receipt from your recommenders. They have 5-7 business days to complete your letters on your behalf before your file will be sent to committee after the deadline."

From this, it seems you have additional 5-7 days after the deadline. Though I would recommend to finish it ASAP.

Hope this helps !

Some updates: My 'point of contact' has a new position at Vandy, so I was assigned a new one. I asked him the same and he said there are a few days allowed. Anyway, my reference submitted his letter today, so only 1 day late :/
