Looking forward to apply in R1. Have to speed up!!

Wow @Anudodh2017, are you still researching or are you actually intending to apply to 17 (did I count right?) schools?!
Obviously, you should certainly apply to SOM, but to finish all of those time management will be key ... and enough $$ to cover all those application fees :)
Good luck, my friend.

Hey !!

Problem is I am again writing my GMAT ( as of now 710 ), so the range of schools is bit broad. Once, I get the GMAT score in place, I shall narrow the list to 6 -7 Schools. Dream (2) - Reach(3) - Safe (2).

Thanks

honestly I am having a problem making choices for safe schools... right now 7 (in total, which include dream, and i think within reach) not safe... atleast i am not sure.

But Yale is definitely where I want to be ... My GMAT is hovering around 710 (practice)... so wanna get it as high as possible... should be there by mid-august..

I have started the application: getting recommendations in place, essays and filling in the misc. details...

Anyone in the same boat can join me in brainstorming the essay prompt..

HI all. In for round 1,
Quick Question- All my EC's are sports related. From what I understand, I need to mention them in the last part of the application, which is activities/affiliations part. However, that doesn't feel correct, as it asks for organization name and such. So should I somehow fit my EC's in this part?

Perhaps put in your sports league name or team name as "organization name"? If I remember right and things haven't changed much (hah) there's also a box to explain your activity? You could go into more detail there if your org name turns out to be vague.

By the numbers, 46% of the Class of 2018 hold passports from a country other than the United States, with 48 different countries represented overall. Women make up 43% of the class and U.S. students of color 28%; 13% are underrepresented ethnicities. The average GMAT for the class is 725, and the average GPA is roughly 3.6 on a 4-point U.S. scale. Students come from a range of academic backgrounds, from engineering to the arts, including one who double-majored in mechanical engineering and visual arts (another majored in computer science and theater arts). They’ve received various academic awards and honors, from magna and summa cum laude to Phi Beta Kappa to Fulbright Fellowships and Gates Millennium Scholarships; two were Rhodes Scholarship finalists.

Applying round 1! Can someone post the recommendation letter guidelines? Are there any length requirements or specific answers they want recommenders to address? Thanks

Yale used "standard" LOR questions this year (same as Kellogg, Booth, HBS, and others):
· Please provide a brief description of your interaction with the applicant and, if applicable, the applicant's role in your organization.
· How does the candidate's performance compare to that of other well-qualified individuals in similar roles? Please provide specific examples.
· Describe the most important piece of constructive feedback you have given the applicant. Please detail the circumstances and the applicant's response.
· Are you in a position to know whether the applicant is sponsored for the MBA by his or her current employer? If so, please comment.
· (optional) Is there anything else we should know?

Please be careful with word count of the recommendations. Ask your recommenders to verify the word counts for different applications. Yale, for example has no word limit, so you can use the standards. Kellogg on the other hand has a significantly smaller word count for the same questions.

Thanks for the information everybody! My recommenders are super busy and I want to make sure I give them the most useful information I can when we meet to discuss. I am not from a traditional background so my reccomenders do not have much experience writing MBA recommendations.

I actually find this trend quite annoying. Business school applications were always meant to be really holistic, and it's a little disappointing to see that it's becoming a numbers game.
