Hi,

I am currently trying to decide between two schools. One is ranked roughly 30 positions higher than the other in most every poll but when factoring in the difference in program cost, interest once I ultimately back my loans, and the scholarship I have been offered - the higher ranked school will cost me approximately $100,000 more.

I have always heard "go to the best school you get into," but that is obviously a substantial amount of money and makes the decision that much harder. I would greatly appreciate any advice on whether that extra $100,000 is worthwhile for the more prestigious program.

For reference, both schools are top 50 programs and neither is top 15 - if that makes a difference.

Thank you!

Which schools are you referencing? Very tough to give advice without knowing.

With the limited information that you have provided I think 30 positions are a lot. This will totally change the number/type of recruiters that vist these schools and almost everything about a school. Better look at your post-MBA schools and then evaluate these schools.

Difficult decision, but consider why GW is giving you all of this money, there is a difference in the quality of the programs. I don't believe the difference is probably worth 100k which complicates your decision, but the value of your MBA will be much different at these schools. A few additional information nuggets on your development goals would probably help me give better advice

I realize this is an old post but - go back to your objectives for getting an MBA. It wasn't to do it for free - what are you trying to achieve, and which program is best suited to do that? Review employment reports for each school and talk with MBA recruiters at the companies you want to work for post-MBA. Who will you be selling this to? Talk to them!
