Despite being known for a decade to recruit most of its automobile mechanics from Main Street Technical School and like schools, this year Ace Motor Company recruited a significantly lesser number of automobile mechanics from these schools, and recruited a significantly greater number of automobile mechanics who did not do any qualifying course at a formal technical school.

Paradox: Ace Motor Company usually recruits from schools such as Main Street Technical School , however this year AMC recruited mechanics who did not do any qualifying course.

We need to find a reason why AMC recruited mechanics who did not qualify from "the mentioned schools"

A. Three years back, Ace Motor Company had a major restructuring in its production department.

B. One of the reputed automobile industry magazines ranked Downhill Technical School ahead of Main Street Technical School.

options A and B do not provide us with a reason as to why AMC preferred mechanics who didn't graduate from a school.

C. Ace Motor Company opened its in-house technical training school to train newly recruited automobile mechanics.

If AMC can train the newly recruited mechanics then the new recruits wouldn't need a formal education to begin with

therefore, C is the correct option!

D. The salary gap between the recruits who did a qualifying course from a formal technical school and those who did not is narrowing.

Salary gap is note relevant to the argument as it doen't infer any reason as to why AMC is recruiting mechanics without a formal education,

when we say salary gap is narrowing anything is possible, the mechanics without a formal education could have been getting paid more than recruits who did get a formal education.

we should never assume when it comes to CR options!

E. The automobile mechanics who do not do a qualifying course from a formal technical School have always been talented but they could not afford the fee for such a course.

E felt like a pretty good option but it doesn't shine light on why they suddenly decided to recruit the mechanics who have always been talented.
there were talented mechanics who didn't go to school even when AMC was recruiting from schools. this option doesn't really solve the discrepency

Why not Option E?

It also states the reason that "mechanics who do not do a qualifying course from a formal technical School have always been talented but they could not afford the fee for such a course".

I think option E is a pretty solid option :) we can wait for the OA to be posted

sampriya I have selected C, for the reason stated by chaitralirr.

But, C & E are both strong options (as you have also mentioned). Yes, we should wait for OA and also OE.
