Congrats on your admits!
Pre-pandemic, Fuqua had MBB representatives on campus. They had offices and office hours so you didn’t have to wait for them to come to campus to recruit, you could just schedule a coffee chat or pop in or whatever. They would also attend classes and keep an eye out for students who may be a good fit for their recruiting goals. That is the advantage you get with Fuqua.
It is more tricky to recruit for consulting as an international student however. Not all consulting companies recruit H1B candidates and even then, the ones that do you have to compete with the domestic applicants who often half a better culture fit or better language skills.
Granted, there are many roles in consulting. You could be taking an industry or an expert role or you could be taking just a general consultant role. For the general consulting role, which is the most common for MBA grads, your client redness is the most important aspect. Can the company send you to the client or have you call client on Webex and be able to run a meeting or at least have a conversation with a senior client representative.
I would evaluate how are you feel you compare with general population and look at your potential chances. If do you think your chances are average, I don’t see a reason to spend a ton of money to only be beat out by others. At the same time, I know people who have refused very similar scholarships to get the highest possible brand name to eat them in recruiting down the road. I can’t say that either path is wrong. However, if you’re looking for MBB, you kind of have to look at Fuqua. If you are looking for your second tier 2 consulting companies then UNC would be a good bargain.
Congrats!!!
PS. I voted for you and see because I’m cheap
