While we are waiting for the challenge to resume, would love to hear from all of the competitors and participants about what you thought about the last 3 weeks and 6 questions and if you have any suggestions or criticism

I was waiting for week 4th exercise . I saw Sajjad1994 message but by the time I tried to access, the post was deleted. Infact I miss why no exercise this week

My feedback:
I find only Week 3 | Article 2 and Week2 Article 1 were somewhat open to debate. But before concluding anything , I have plans to do these passages again. I might have overlooked something and hence missed.

I don't think these practices deserve any criticism. I wonder why many people didn't participate. Maybe they wanted to focus on OGs questions?
For me, It was a good exercise. These passages were different from typical passages that we see on GMAT Club. The answers were very close and many times I had to refer to passages back.

Overall, It opened more eyes to do reading more precisely.
Your hardwork and intelligence is reflected from how these questions are framed and how close are the options.
I really enjoyed the activity and wish it continues. I will continue to participate .

Thanks to all who are involved in making this happen. :please:

Thank you for starting this, guys. I haven't had the time to solve many of these - given I'm still completing OG. But one thing I would like to highlight is that reading articles from sources like 'The Economist' in itself boosts your reading speed and interpretation - and trust me this is super crucial when you're optimizing everything to hit the 730+ mark.
It's a cherry on the top when GMATClub makes RC exercises out of them :)
Also, RC is that one section that can be improved using unofficial sources as well (I've burnt my hands by using unofficial questions for other sections in the past).

Definitely looking forward to more of such exercises - including the butler thread :)

P.S.: Bought the magazine membership when this challenge started - had exhausted all free reads :P

Thank you Sajjad1994 , bb and , tjbath74 for conducting this exercise smoothly. It's immensely helpful in developing the RC skill. The most standout part of this section is the questions. I feel that each question created in this section is close to GMAT-like RC ques. Moreover the passages are also dense and have GMAT-like language.

One suggestion can be taken for discussion :- The passages to be selected for competition could be a bit shorter i.e at most 4-5 paragraphs.

Thank you bb, Sajjad1994, tjbath74 for creating this challenge. I'm waiting for a long time to join the RC Challenges. I love to improve my reading skill, and this is very helpful to shape this skill. Cheerful. :blushing: :please:
1. I think some passages are too long or too short for Reading Comprehension. It's better to provide the proper length of the passage.
2. The process that we have to read the passage is quite difficult. Firstly, we have to log in to the Economist, and then we can read the passages.
(IMO, It's not quite too difficult for me. My friend, however, said it's hard. ;) )

I love to participate in the marvelous Economist GMAT Tutor Reading Challenge. I'm waiting for the new passages soon.

Thanks 3000

Sorry for late reply...

In my point of view, this 'Economist GMAT Tutor Reading Challenge' is really awesome!
  • Encourage me to type my opinions about the news whether my analysis is correct or not.
  • Improve my reading skill not only in OG articles but also in other sources.
  • Make me pay more attention to each and every one of the small details—both in the passage and in the answer choices. 'Thank you for your suggestion. tjbath74 '
Therefore, I think this challenge is beneficial for me so much, and love to join more!

Just some suggestions, I think Week3 Article1 is a bit longer than usual GMAT's passage, so it would be great if you provided a passage around 4-5 paragraphs and OE for every articles. :please:

Thank you bb Sajjad1994 tjbath74, I know that it takes you guys a long time to run this competition steadily. I'm really appreciate your hard works!

Apologies for replying late.

Thank you so much Sajjad1994, bb, tjbath74 for taking the initiative to creating this challenge in the RC section. One of the things that I loved about the challenge was the open-ended questions - really helped stimulate the brain.

The passages were indeed too long, but I think reading such a long passage and then answering the questions has a lot of advantages to it; it builds patience and improves reading speed while helping us train our brain to read thoroughly as we go along. Practicing these also helps curb the anxiety of losing time while solving RCs.

All in all, it was fun and and advantageous too. For me, the downside to it was that I could not participate in the challenge in Week 2 and Week 3. So, I am really looking forward to this again and other such challenges, hopefully before June this year :) (Planning to retake by June end).

Thanks a ton. :)

I think this is a great initiative!
1. The open-ended questions really made me look carefully on the details
2. Posting my responses helped me realise where i was going wrong in my notes.
Just a suggestion, it would be great if we can have a dense passage too. Most of the passages so far (though some longer/shorter than the OG questions), were relatively relatable/understandable compared to some of the GMAT RC passages that are filled with heavy technical details, which makes it easy to lose track of the main point.

Thank you bb Sajjad1994, tjbath74 for creating the challenge. Really appreciate all the work you guys have put in!
