I had a few students ask for confirmation on the policy I asked my proctor about concerning the use of the whiteboard prior to the start of the timed section and during the instruction screens, to make sure this didn't vary proctor to proctor. Here's what I just got back from GMAC:

Quote:
Hi Hailey,

I'm sorry for the delay!

No, candidates are not permitted to write on the Online Whiteboard before the start of the timed sections of the exam, or during breaks.

Regards,

Customer Care Team

Just figured you all might want to know as well :)

I suspect you can use it. I don’t think it is clearly prohibited but we will know for sure after the 11th.

I think a multi-page booklet like Manhattan's might be problematic from GMAC perspective as they may think a candidate can take notes on different pages of the booklet and in the end erases only the first page in front of the camera.
So they may require the applicants to use a regular single-sided whiteboard and ask them to erase it in front of cam

I've been trying to use a whiteboard with markers and I waste a long time erasing after solving a bunch of questions... seems that if we cannot use a booklet, it is preferable to keep using the online whiteboard..

Maybe, Its better to use both (physical whiteboard and online whiteboard). Physical whenever we have to do alot of calculations

Short answer: no, we cannot see the rebooking option.
Longer answer: read the 5~6 previous posts in this page.

Can anyone, who had booked the test after the announcement was made for physical whiteboard on 5 Jun, confirm if they took the test since then and are able to see an option for rebooking with a physical whiteboard after 11th?

Yeah I saw the posts. I guess they meant they cant see the option 'yet'. A few posts back bb and others were discussing how you can trick the system (and torture yourself :P) by taking 3 tests within 2 days (2 online and 1 at the physical test center) :D
I just wanted to know if anyone actually did that :D
The "3 GMATs in 2 days" joke apparently no longer applies, now that we know there is an (unannounced) approximately 2-week waiting period between online exams, including registration for the GMAT Online itself.

The real question is: how long before GMAC allows retakes every 16 days, up to 5 attempts per year / 8 lifetime, and the GMAT Online just becomes...the GMAT?

I'll let you know when I am in fact able to register for my retake.

Hi,
Just got done with my exam. Found it tougher than before.
Thw whiteboard kept on erasing itself. I was also not able to type 'z'. Otherwise, the whiteboard was ok. I wished i could complete my Quant section a few minutes earlier!

The verbal seemed harder than what I expected. The absence of a sectional break and the fixed section order perhaps made the situation strenuous for me. I started with a heavy head and went blank on 3rd question. I was expecting a V40-42, but now I think I will land up with V37-39.
Surely, will have to retake the exam if I dont get my taget score.

can anyone clarify?

I want to sit the gmat online and use the online whiteboard (no issue with this). Ideally I would love the option to resit it online. Are you able to resit it online? Or would the only option be sitting on on the 11th, and then being somehow able to resit because of the online physical whiteboard rule (but i would still choose to use online whiteboard)

Has anyone practiced using a physical whiteboard? The challenge i am facing is that erasing the whiteboard quickly after every 1-2 questions gets physically taxing. Would love to hear any suggestions/ advice on best practices?

Additionally (pardon my ignorance) - is there absolutely no break between the quant and verbal section in the online test?

You’re right. There is no break between quant and verbal except a system screen break of maybe 30 seconds or so.

Also, good point on having to physically erase the white board every couple of questions. I can imagine it’s going to be a strange experience to do that a lot. Did you feel you’re running out of time or was it more about your hands starting to hurt?

The latter. It gets physically exhausting trying to erase the board very quickly. Plus whiteboard markers are really thick (each question takes up more real-estate than one would hope) !

Anyone tried using a thin tip erasable marker? Should work as long as its erasable IMO.

Hi guys - not sure if someone has already asked this question but does anyone know if we are required to show our photo ID (passport) to the proctor before taking the GMAT Online or do we have to upload a scanned version?

Here I go. Hope Verbal Gods will favor me on test day and I wont miss more than 1 question out of 3 :)

My account page does not show any sign that I've scheduled an exam. As I've read from previous posts it will be available 30 minutes prior to exam.

I've made system check with all photo uploads before I've scheduled the exam, Everything was ok. Am I obliged to do it now, after scheduling the exam? I dont really get how they will relate my system check, made before scheduling the exam, to my mba account.
