I didn’t count with my fingers but definitely moved around my hands. (Are they still hand gestures if you’re doing them alone ?)

Anyway, I would often use my hands to read the passage on RC or ‘scribble’ on a number line I drew on the whiteboard with my fingers. It wasn’t a problem.

However it could very easily be that my proctor was cool with it. He definitely asked me not to mumble TWICE. That’s annoying because talking to yourself is sometimes a super important tool.

Does everyone know whether we are able to not look at the screen for a moment? for example to think about the main purpose of a passage... or to close our eyes...
On another hand, I use my left hand to keep track of ABCDE in every question... am I able to do so on this online version?

During my exam I was mumbling / mouthing a DS question and the proctor did caution me against it. I curbed all my natural instincts and didn't do it again.

IMO a lot of what is acceptable or allowed depends on the subjective call of the proctor.

It's cool till one gets away with it, but it's better to avoid unnecessary interruptions during a deep thought or at a critical time.
So why the hassle ! :P

Hi bb,

Thanks for replying. You have always been a great help.
I booked my test on 11th June and bought a whiteBOARD just to be on the safe side.
The whiteboard meets the size requirements, so I guess there shouldn`t be any problem. Will post here, if proctor comments anything about rubbing midway exam or about type of whiteboard.

bb
I think you should be able to erase any time you wish/want.

It does not say if using laminated sheets like the practice booklet from MGMAT/Veritas are acceptable but reading it more and more, I feel they would be (they are not prohibited) but frankly, it is just a guess and deduction and inference, not hard answer. If we judge based on the previous experience with the GMAT support, they will take a while to catch up and we will be getting a number of conflicting answers until they all get on the same page.

BB.

Hi Everyone,

Was wondering whether laminated sheets like those we get at the test center count as whiteboard. Does it have to be a whiteBOARD?

Also, can we just erase the content midway exam ?
The site doesn`t say anything about whether we can use both the sides. If erasing midway exam is not allowed, what do you guys think? Is it safe to assume that we can use both the sides?

Cheers,

Hi bb, mcelroytutoring,

I booked my retest hours after the announcement was made. Just went to my account and followed the instructions.
So, I guess there is no need to call or contact through chat or anything. It can be booked just like normal online test.

Will be taking retest on 11th June. Will post here if there is anything different from previous online exam version.

Cheers,

Hello GMAT Club folks :)

I have registered for giving a GMAT Online exam next month (thank god i can use a physical whiteboard, god bless the person who knocked some common sense into GMAC)

For those who gave the GMAT Online already:

Is there an OS that is preferred ? Is Windows better over MacOS ?

Do you know who the proctor is some days before the exam or on the day of the exam ?

How long was the check-in process before the exam started ?

Thanks,
K

So interestingly I went back to the GMAT site, and it seems that I can retake Online test now? I just took one May 25th and I just successfully booked another one for June 12th? When did they update the policy?

Hey guys

If I already have a date booked on June 26, can I re-schedule the date and take the test on June 10, and once I am done with test 1, can I book another slot for a later date when the physical whiteboard is available?

Thanks!

Hi. Anyone can take the GMAT ONLINE. Regardless of whether the test centers are open or close in your country. Anyone except residents of North Korea or Iran or China (the usual exclusions)

Hey guys, hope all of you stay healthy

Can I take Gmat ONline if a test-center is opened in my city?

I think you can, I just take the test last wed and the test center already open in my city. Also, please CMIIW, but I don't think they know where you live right now so even if they did prohibit online gmat for those who lives in city with open test center. You could always say you live in a remote area haha

Yes. You can reschedule. Free changes and cancelations during gmat online times.

Not sure if you can reschedule online but you should be able to.

It has changed on Thur. They announced this on Thur - see page #60 in this discussion for announcements and links.

bb thanks for the reply

I have one more question

I have passed the system check with ID photo, Photo of myself, photos of my room (where I plan to take test) and etc.
It said that I successfully passed the test. is that all? or I have to wait till someone will review photos and approve?

P.S. I intend to schedule and pay for the online exam tomorrow

Thanks
