GMAT reattempt - 710 (Q49 V36) - Should i retake?

Question

Just gave my GMAT yesterday, was going quite well until my stomach started cramping up post the 25th question in Verbal, I had a good 15 mins remaining at this time but lost complete focus. Took much longer for the next few questions and before i knew it, I had 4 mins for 7 questions, one of them was an RC which I quite frankly skimmed through. I had to guess the last few, then the worst thing happened, I couldn't finish the section in time, the last question went unanswered. I thought I had completely screwed it up, and through my IR session, I was contemplating my fate (IR score - 2). Then to my surprise, 710 popped up on the screen and I couldn't help but imagine what could've been. Honestly, I'm happy with my improvement (610 to 710) and this score will probably open doors to every college I'm interested in (Duke Fuqua, Michigan Ross, Emory, Mendoza etc.). But, I'm looking for a fellowship of some sort and don't know if this is enough. Should I retake, considering my target schools?

A little more about my profile: Engineering in printing and packaging technology, 4 years of Digital marketing experience, a couple of promotions and 1.5 years of working in a startup

My strong suggestion is for a retake. I don't know much about your profile honestly, but if you are an Indian candidate with tech background, 710 would be problematic for Duke and Ross. I was recently told by a Ross adcom to retake the GMAT. I was rejected last year (applied with a 710). I am not saying that GMAT is necessary, but after going through the grueling process, I learned how competitive this process is. Maybe other schools in your list are okay with a 710, but I wouldn't expect a scholarship of some sort, unless again you have a stellar profile (you may very well have). 
Another suggestion would be to not wait. Everything is fresh in your mind. If you take a break now, and later decide to retake, it will be very challenging. So, if you do decide to retake, do that ASAP.

Thanks for your inputs, I am seriously considering a reattempt. How much would you reckon guessing the last 4-5 questions and not finishing section could've affected my scores?

It almost certainly hurt your score, but there's no way to know how much.

I too think that it'd be a good idea to take the exam again. Just make sure that you have a good time management strategy in place. 11 questions in 15 minutes is not a situation you'd like to be in again.

Hi ajayb92,

First off, a 710/Q49 is an outstanding Score, so you can comfortably apply to any Business Schools that interest you. As such, a retest is probably not necessary. You're ultimately asking Admissions questions though, so you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. First off, nice job with 710! Given that you had some stomach issues that caused you to guess on the last 4 questions and not answer the last question, I’d like to think that if you retook the exam under better conditions, you’d be able to score even higher. How were you scoring on your official practice exams? For how long did you study before taking the GMAT?

Thanks Rich. I would like to mention that I am your student. Before empower, I used to make many silly mistakes in quant. The course really helped improve my solving process. SC course was mighty helpful too. Overall, I'm very thankful to Empower for helping me cross rhis barrier.

Suggesting you retake. If you can even break 720, it will put you in a different category, especially if you're shooting for the "Top Ten."
