How long is GMAT valid?
It used to be 5 years but some schools are asking a new GMAT score while I have it 4 years old. Is there any change in policies?

Hi Tim,
GMAT Score is valid for five years from the date taken, yet schools prefer a score not older than 3 years so in some cases they ask applicants to take the test again.

In general, most Schools don't care how old your GMAT Score is, as long as the Score is still valid (meaning that it is less than 5 years old at the time that you apply). It's certainly possible that individual Programs might have a different policy on this issue, but the implication that a 3-year-old Score is preferable to a 5-year-old Score is a questionable distinction. Can you go into more detail about the information that you have received? Has a particular Admissions Department specifically told you that you need a GMAT Score that is no more than 3 years old?
